Also, on a meta-gaming note, I've been looking into some of the character names and am getting even more of a classical vibe:

Charlie Metuo: metuo is Latin for "to fear"
Steven Balatro (founder of Celsus school): Balatro is a minor character from Horace's Satires
Sam Elatonuc: he's the one I can't figure out. It looks as if it should be an anagram, but I can't see anything that fits the emerging theme[/strike]

Elatonuc is an anagram of 'not a clue' so perhaps that's just looking a little too deeply? I couldn't find anything else either when I looked at anagrams of his name.

OK, i'm back from my weeks break in France and ready to get back to this. Not alot has appeared to happen though Sad

Naomirul3z is Naomi's AIM name according to her blog. She's not online at the moment so it looks like a bit of waiting is needed.

And that's it Smile

"Not a lot" is one way of putting. "Nothing at all" might be another. There may well be a game reason for this, though. If you read Greg's last blog entry he writes about a "vaccination" that's due to happen the next day. I've been looking out for Greg and Naomi on AIM for the last week, but with no luck. Assuming the worst, Greg, Tom and Naomi might be out of things semi-permanently.

If that's the case, we need to find other ways in to the Celsus affair. AFAIK, our only other game contact is the headmaster, who can be reached via the school email address. Not ideal, I know, but it might be worth leaning on him and seeing what happens.

I'm not too sure what would happen there either. I sent the headmaster an email 8 or 9 days ago and never received a response. Not sure what to think right now.

I think the PMs need to stop . Just my opinion.

"Dear PMs;

If you are reading this message, please give us something... anything at all. Just let us know that you are still out there and willing to hold our hands in this time of need.

In a world where boredom breeds creativity, we need this, before we get way to creative.

I thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely;

Gregs long lost brother (see, it's starting already. Make it STOP)"

That was solved. It lead to http://celsusschool.topcities.com/evil/ which in turn lead to http://celsusschool.topcities.com/wwwboard/ where the trail seemed to run dry. At the moment, most people seem to think the PMs have given up on this one, which is a shame.

Isn't there a way to get in the Celsus School email account? We may get some answers.

So..that's it? Damn...it was gettin' really intresting. It may be related to the game the lack of news from greg and tom, but we don;t have any other trails. Everything has been solved.
Thinking of it...where does the ascii stuff descovered by tom goes in? the one with the "p u d d i n g n o s e "?

That password allowed Tom to send us these screenshots of the school computer system. Use a flood fill on the large pane on the left, and you'll some hidden messages on four of the five screens. Three of them are seem to be subliminal brainwashing, and the fourth reads "TANGE RESPOND!" I don't know what the consensus is, but my best guess is that this is Victor Infusco trying for an alternate line of communication to Homebase. If it is, we haven't found it yet.

Yes, there is. You can try to crack the gmail account. Not that I'd ever advocate such a thing. Wink

Actually, I wouldn't. It's almost certainly illegal. (Disclaimer: IANAL)

Not only would this be illegal in terms of privacy et al...

But it would also be against the traditions of every ARG played, as this is the very definition of brute forcing.

We wait on the PMs... while nothing has happened lately, there are many instances of an ARG where we've gotten something, then nothing, then something, then nothing, then the rollercoaster really takes off...

Mind you, it would be nice to somehow know what the future holds, and if it is done for good, I also agree that the PM should do the right thing and say "I want to continue (or I don't), and I need help to do so. PM me to help make Greg's Life work."

Otherwise, just step up and say you've screwed up. We'll be cool, but it won't stay that way for long, if we wait and wait with nothing going on.

I just thought that there may be a clue in the game pointing out the password or the answer to the security question. Razz
I didn't mean to crack it with any hacking programs (brute forcers, portscanners, etc). Just to use what we're given to get in there. It could shed some light on the situation.

Sorry if I sound like a complete n00b, but I am a bit new to this...
In the wwwboard, it mentions strength and weakness and stuff... could this have anything to do with the upcoming sports carnival?
I hope not, as that's almost a year away... the next event in the Dates section is October 12th.
I guess we just wait until then?
