[NEW] Postcard, 2005-07-27 I did not see this posted elsewhere and am really not sure if it should go here in General or over in the Puzzle Cards area, but I just received my order from Firebox and found a postcard (as well as the "24 Hours in Perplex City" trifold ) enclosed with my order. I remember a couple of other other postcards being found, but did not find this particular one on the Wiki or forum search, so have to think it is new.
The fine print at the bottom says:
Quote:
Image on reverse: 'The Point' (artist unknown), #03 in a series of postcards depicting the city at night. The full set is available from the Academy gift shop.

Has anyone else received one of these through Firefox?

Is it the same semacode? Interesting that the numbers have gone, maybe they were never a puzzle.

That makes two of us. Same picture of yours. The code looks the same as the original postcard that sends you to the main website.
No map of PCPS or the number though

what confused me was how bizarrely light it was for it being night time...

Yeah, same here with my order... Perhaps Perplex City is quite far North geographically and so they get very long days?

No, what happens is that because they don't live on a planet which revolves like ours with a normal night and day cycle, the weather department of the Academy controls all the clouds and creates heavy cloud cover over the city in the evenings, giving the appearance of night. That is why it's darker at the bottom of that picture under the clouds than it is at the top. People in the Ascendancy Point, who live above the clouds in their magical paradise of the gods, have to wear those blindfold things when they sleep.
I'm completely making this up, by the way.

Surely it's a picture of Ascendancy point. It's the same shape as their logo.

Possibly they have very large, shiny moons which reflect a lot of light from a local source...or maybe light polution is very bad.
Or the artist is just rubbish

I beg to differ. Since Perplex City is really just a computer simulation of a city (Perplex City 3000!) there was a glitch in the weather subsystem the night that particular artist AI "painted" that picture.

Ooooh. I would love a higher resolution scan of that thing. Remember the old Perplex City at Night postcard? That was my desktop for two months.

Bri (or anyone else who got the postcard)- could you post a high res version of the back of the card? I just noticed something on mine and I'm trying to figure out if its just a smudge I put on it myself or if its part of all of them.

At least this one doesn't seem to have a 24 digit number

It's not a sunset image? That's what I assumed...or a washed-out moonrise.

There is a brown-ish smudge on the back of mine, sort of in the address area. I'll post a better scan when I am am able to.
EDIT: It is hard to see, even in the scan. I have a feeling it is just a fingerprint smudge from the person packing the order. Mucking around with cardboard boxes and packing tape dispensers while in a warehouse leaves a bit of grime on your fingers. Also: yes, I know I have the wrong month in the filename.
