Upcoming Radio Webcast

I am currently advertising on a local radio station about something that I'm doing in my area involving ARGs. Because of that advertisement I have been asked to come in before the event that I'm advertising is going to be occuring and talk about the event and ARGs.

The radio program will be webcast so I will post the link to the webcast, as well as the phone number to the radio station, when I know the exact date.

However, the main reason for this post is to get some ideas of some important points to include in my interview. I want the interview to be informative, entertaining and be good enough to draw atleast a few more people into the world of ARGs.

So, besides such games as ILoveBees, TheBeast, Urban Hunt and Art of the Heist, what other things should I mention? Obviously I'll be trying to explain what an ARG is, so if you want to add that, please feel free to do so.

Thank you.

mention how ultra sexy we are...and to join LCP and quicklink everyone one the forums... don't forget that part.. Wink

ok seriously - didn't we do a thread about this for i love bees? When a French Canadian woman had an interview about ARGS she wanted us to help her with completing?

Mention some of the cool stuff we do so we don't sound like dorky losers. Wink

I hate that.

okay...

Well, I wouldn't have agreed to do it if: 1) it wasn't a free way to promote what it is that I'm doing or 2) I couldn't atleast try to get some people who have absolutely no idea about ARGs' interested in them.

I was thinking about just covering the basics (my definition about what and ARG is, some of the terms used, mention the sites "if anyone is interested in learning more about this genre", some books on the topic, etc.). But what I wanted was a general feel for what to say, since there are probably some things that I don't know about or maybe some things that I shouldn't mention (like the fact that some games implode on a recently consistant basis). Positive things, you know?

If there is a thread about this topic, then I will go searching for it and find what I need from there.

ARGs

Oh dear. Don't misunderstand. I was making a joke.

This radio show is a great idea. Some of us may even call in to the show if we can.

I did look for the thread in ilb about "describing what an ARG is"-I couldn't find it. I thought it was in the Question/Meta section that vpisteve started for that game.

Positive things to mention:

The i love bees special innovation award at GDC and the webby award - anything that shows these games have been recognized in the game industry as...innovative.

The community aspect of the game. My favorite part.

The live events which pull people out from behind the screen and into the world.

The advantages in nonlinear story telling that the ARG structure allows. Viewpoints of many characters (and even different worlds and historical periods) can be told simultaneously.

That these games emphasis challenging and developing the human aspect. These games are about people-- not building a better platform with better graphics.

Books: This is not a game by Dave Szulborski.

I'm sure we can come up with more!
