ILB Story to be incorporated into the Halo movie?!!?!

A buddy of mine who works at MS recently made the mention that there's a rumor that the film's storyline may be intertwined with ELEMENTS of the ILB story...

Thoughts, anyone? XD

I highly doubt this. However, I would not be surprised if Microsoft used another ARG to market the movie.

I think your buddy is just pulling your leg. They have already stated that they don't consider the events of ILB as Halo canon. Although if this was true, I would be a very happy boy.

Would they not need the permission of the people holding the copyright on the ILB story, namely Sean and Elan at 4orty2wo? And then, would MS be paying royalties back to them for the use of their story (elements)?

I'm torn between wanting fame and fortune for our troops, versus allowing MS to sully the memories I have of our experience with the characters.

Maybe they'll just "borrow" a few concepts, like the chatter device, and leave the characters out of it. (Pardon me, if the chatter was part of Halo canon, i was unawares.)

Although I am not expert on the subject, Im pretty sure that MS would be the ones holding the copyright to ILB. Much the same way that MS owns the copyright to Halo. They paid for it.

MS holds the copyright to ILB.

I'm skeptical, but if something like this shows up, I'll be the guy shouting and hooting at the screen when the ILB references show up. Please feel free to smile in the safety of darkness or cheer along.

I'll be cheering, and possibly chanting "DURGA! DURGA! DURGA!" =D

It would be possible to use huge swaths of ILB in the movie in the same way that huge swaths of the Silmarillion were in the first Lord of the Rings movie. A reference to the spartan I's here, a comment about Halo and other artifacts there......

that would kick ass though if they used ILB in the movie...... expecially if like.. they actually had footage of our future friends and maybe even mentioned some of our beekeeper names and such..

the only thing i could see happening is a mention of the Apocolypso or Mellissa in a space battle, due to the fact that very little (if any) of the first movie will be set on earth (if they're following the storyline faithfully)

well if they're gonna make them follow the games then they could spend maybe a half hour or maybe even 15 minutes kinda showing quick quick scenes ILB related. maybe like... scenes of the apocolypso... then scenes of melissa shattering... jersey discovering durga.. random quick scenes of our future buddies getting together... then maybe a 5-10 minute scene at chawla base and the alarms going off..

i haven't read the books otherwise i'd give a guess on how the ILB stuff could fit in to that but as far as the books go i think CoffeeJedi hsa the right idea.

hell.. i'd love to see a ILB movie all it's own. similiar cinema like the movie Phonebooth but cuts to scenes of kids at the computer and such. and scenes from the audio files. now that'd kick Very Happy
then when people ask about ILoveBees.com we can be like "watch this" rather than spending 2 hours to try to explain it.
