On Friday I turn 30.

I've never been one to avoid jumping on bandwagons.

As such, to mark (celebrate? comiserate?) this momentous event, and to excercise a few little grey cells, I've created a simple puzzle trail.

Now I'm fully aware, from bitter experience, just how good you guys are at this sort of thing. So I expect you to have this one done in about an hour. Consider that a challenge Smile

30, man. How did that happen?

Love,
Andy

Can anyone make sense of the letter? I can barely transcribe it - I'm still not able to read some of the words (btw, I'm now suddenly glad most of the handwriting in Mu was Steve's, and not Andy's Smile )

This is what I got:
Quote:
The gentelman who contacted you believes you played a dangerous game with the ???? you took, my ???? still has recurring nightmares of the event. What was the point to it? The ???? From the roof gave ???? to our old church in thir blond age where the young, like some Hollywood film, stalkd the streets with theat kind of ???? that won them no admirers. When the raiders came, we lost ?? pieces - priceless works of art every one of them. Award yourself a congratulatory smile from us. Rest assured, when the dust settles, the Royal Academy will ????

yours,

And there's also a funny script:
Code:
static string Swede(string i_blame_krystyn)
{
   string naaaaaachos = "";double what_does_this_do = Math.PI;
   for (int hot_damn_its_monkey_time = 0; hot_damn_its_monkey_time != i_blame_krystyn.Length; ++hot_damn_its_monkey_time)
   {
      what_does_this_do += hot_damn_its_monkey_time;
      int any_zombies_out_there = (int)(what_does_this_do / what_does_this_do);
      naaaaaachos += i_blame_krystyn[i_blame_krystyn.Length - hot_damn_its_monkey_time - any_zombies_out_there];
      what_does_this_do = Math.Sin(what_does_this_do);
   }
   // Jeff: When God made the arse, he didn't say, 'Hey, it's just your basic hinge, let's knock off early.' He said, 'Behold ye angels, I have created the arse. Throughout the ages to come, men and women shall grab hold of these, and shout my name.'
   return naaaaaachos;
}

(the Jeff stuff is from Coupling)

Not sure what to do with all of that.

I've no idea what it means, though.

Well here's as much of the handwriting I could make out:

I could read everything but the very last "continue". Still no idea what the letter or the code could mean, though. The code is most definitely either completely meaningless or it was just written down without paying attention to syntax (for example, "string" should be "String" if I'm not mistaken).

An interesting note about the letter. It's dated May 5th 2005 or 05-05-05.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
take every 5th word in the letter (start counting with "my friend") and you get

"who played the servant of the lead character in the film that won the 89 art award from the acadamy"

i'm feeling much too lazy to actually go look it up though Razz

Michael Gough who played Alfred in the 1989 movie Batman

but having tried various iterations of
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
michaelgough.jpg; mgough.jpg; michaelgough.html; mgough.html etc...
