if you use a telnet program to SSH to the IP above (on the standard port 22) then you get prompted for a login. However I can't get anything from port 12345... (If you want a nice free telnet program google "putty")

I assume that to make it crash you need to get all of the temperature gauges above or below 12.

[EDIT] ok, I made it crash by overloading three of them, and I only had to turn on 3 ac modules.

Yeah, the way to make the system crash is to make all the temperature readers go above or below 12 degress.

The easiest way I have found is to use the cold air ones (the blue turbines) to make the temperature drop as they seem to be more effective at spreading in some of the long corridors. Only use the warm turbines if its kind of close to a reader, otherwise they dont work too well.

One thing to note, it seems that on each load, a random floor is selected as I havn't seen the same pattern of rooms and corridors twice.

The floor layout is randomly generated as stated at the bottom of this page: http://www.ascendancypoint.com/eclipsesecurity/building/ac/

Also, I agree with step that our goal is to make the ac crash at the same time that the 30 min shift employee is working. (wed, fri, sun 9:30pm-10:00pm) I assume this time is London time. So that means our first opportunity is today. Remember though, this is all theory.

Oh, and thanks again to step for getting these times for us! Cool

yeah, I agree...

I tried switching off all my firewalls and what not, so that nothing interferred with the internet connection, but still got the connection refused thing...

So, everyone be here at 9:30-10:00pm BST.

So to recap. Hot and cold can both seperately Glitch the system. Or in combination, as long as 12/12 is < or > on either side it shuts down...

if there's a long way to go to get the air to a sensor, cutting off needless flow by closing the vents makes it's speed up in the fillings.

Alright then

Well, I suppose a couple questions/comments can't hurt.

1) Perhaps when it's time to overload the AC, only one person should (or can??) do it.
1b) HOW do we overload it? Will it be like the test program, just, you know - for real. Or will it be something completely different. Will an ingame character do it for us, or do we have to figure it out.

2) I realize that Pineapple got access to the ac test program, but how did Bri get all those maps. I know the ac test program generates a random map, so, how did he make them all.

2b) How did Step figure out the shifts of the employees? I can't see anything with the AC test program.

Bleh, I need some cards to entertain me or enlighten me or whatever.

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that port 22 is probably off-limits. It handles both the SSH and the SCP/SFTP protocols, the latter being an increasingly common way of copying your files up to a web server. Unless we get some kind of information that specifically points to ports other than 80 or 12345, I'd say that attempted hacks on other ports will certainly lead to "behind-the-curtain" territory and, in most jurisdictions, could be considered a criminal offense.

Those maps/time logs are from the heat sensor program (available here uid=theadvisor pswd=thelimelife)

and yes... get some cards Smile (for the entertainment, we can enlighten you for free)

Hmm

Thanks Atrophied!

I just found the app during my browsing of the AP site (Man I feel stupid) but anyway.

I guess all we can do is wait 2 hours, 10 minutes.

You're probably right. I was just playing when port 12345 seemed dead! As we have no pointers at all to a system login its probably not a good idea to pursue! Smile

The archive file that holds the heat sensor program also contained data files for the maps. I was able to look at the map data files and make some educated guesses with regard to the format. At that point, I had a grid of numbers and was able to match up that 003 and 005 were horizontal walls, 000 was space, 004 was a vertical wall, etc. From that point, it was pretty easy to write a program to chew up the map files and spit out fancy HTML.

The address that the program is attempting to access when it crashes is 70.86.38.82 port 12345. That address is registered to theplanet.com, which is also where the emails from characters are coming from.

Specifically, when it gets to the state where it wants to contact the server, it opens a connection on port 12345 to ascendancypoint.com (which currently, it fails to do and prints the error). If/when something is actually listening on that port, the AC app sends some data to the server (currently, I do not know what, but some kind of state information), then reads back some number of lines of text and (presumably) displays them. The default message is "This message is only shown if you're a test engineer."

Yes, this particular jar file was not obfuscated. Wink

Getting a little OOG here, I would presume different people would get different messages back, based either on randomness or on the state of their AC system (which gets sent out to the server.)
