The air conditioning simulator has been automatically translated for operating systems from your location and is based on the Java platform. It should be compatible with Windows, Apple and Linux computers.

Apple computers require a two-button mouse in order to use this application; single-button trackpads are not supported.

It looks like the Ascendancy Point "just-in-time" compilation works pretty well. It can translate programs written for whatever OS their keys are to our Earth-based OSes, but it is not quite powerful enough to handle single-button trackpads, like on Powerbooks and iBooks. I think they're getting back at those of us who could run the original inertial-sensor maze program! Smile

If anyone wants a version that will run on a Powerbook without an external mouse, I have a little something I whipped up right here. It simulates a right-click by holding down the Apple key. (NOTE that most other programs in the operating system use a CTRL-click, but I could only get that to work for single events, not for dragging, so I went with the Apple key.) Be warned that it is a snapshot of the current AC code, disassembled, tweaked, then recompiled. The beauty of the original app being WebStart is that Ascendancy Point can update it and you'll automatically get the update. The problem with my hack is that it's a hack of a snapshot--if they update the live program, this hack won't get the changes. Still, it's better than nothing.

Maybe the "automatic code translators" at Ascendancy Point will get wind of this and alter their cross-compiling accordingly, since the source code is sitting there in the same folder. Cool

So what am I doing wrong? I can crash the system, then it says "system crash - core dumped", then #error: connection refused 634. Where are you guys getting the names from?!? Confused

<edit: for spelling

Also, I agree with step that our goal is to make the ac crash at the same time that the 30 min shift employee is working. (wed, fri, sun 9:30pm-10:00pm) I assume this time is London time. So that means our first opportunity is today.

You can run the simulation at any time (and, indeed, make it crash) but it only spits out names at these particular times.

Excellent work, everyone.

The application seems to "crash" a lot. Ascendancy Point has a few problems with their internal systems, as told in various Sentinel articles. If you look at the notices on the AC simulator web page, you will see that there are possible "business data leaks" that occur during periods of maintenance. Step figured out that those times are roughly 9:30pm-10:00pm (BST?) on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. So, if you can get the AC simulator to crash during those times, it is highly likely that you will see some of this leaked data. If you run it any other time, you will probably just get the standard crash message.

So is Perplex City time one hour earlier than London time? The leaks happened from 10:30pm-11:00pm BST instead of 9:30pm-10:00pm BST like we thought it would.

Recap....

Just a recap for those of us, like me, who were too late to help out this time around but willing to help at the next chance.
After downloading the ac simulator from here with the username/password of theadvisor/thelimelife; making it crash will leak the names of residents at Ascendancy Point, along with the floor they live on and the room #.
To crash the simulator, Sasuntsi Davit suggests turning on the air conditioners (the blue fans) to get the temperature (seen in yellow) below 12.
Remember to click and drag the page to view all of it, find the thermometers, and turn some of the stoppers as needed.

Thanks, again, to step's great work on tracking the server rooms by heat sensor; we will have other opportunities to get more information. At the least on Sunday; possibly Wednesday, and again on Friday (?).
I'm a bit confused about the time, but I think it's either sometime between 22:30 to 23:00 BST or 21:30 to 22:00 BTS.
BST is GMT +1. Here's a time converter , so don't be late. Smile
The results of todays well done work, (not by me), can be found on the wiki .

Oh, i thought BST was London time, which is GMT according to my system clock. It makes sense now that we know BST is GMT +1.

Also, turing on all the blue fans doesn't always get all the sensors below 12. Sometimes you need to use the red ones. And another thing - It seems that some of the random floor layouts are just not solveable. I've tried many things on some, but I often end up with one thermometer that won't go above or below 12. It's best to just close and restart hoping for an easier one.

I'm assuming the point of this is to use the heat sensor program to find out what room the advisor is staying in, then use the ac program to cross reference that room against the resultant list of residents to find out the name of the advisor?? Anyone got the room yet then, cos all I can find in the forum is speculation and a possible list of rooms :-s

BST = GMT +1 (so we get one more hour of sunshine Smile) and its possible/likely the advisor is L157 R34 and the person spying on her is L157 R19, but we just dont know for sure.

What i really wanted to ask though was; Bri or others, can you modify the sensor.names.props file to include the new residents list? I would be very greatfull.
