 		FireFly/Serenity
For those of you who live under a rock, September 30 will see the release of a movie called Serenity. It's the continuation of a cancelled Fox television series called Firefly (by Joss Whedon, the guy behind the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel TV series).

I heartily encourage everyone to check the series and movie out. You will notice a striking resemblence between the story and our own favorite ILB tales. There may not be any split-jawed aliens threatening Earth, but it's an interesting sort of take on how Yasmine and Kamal's story could have wound up differently.

 		True, true, UF general/meta has some stuff.

But the purpose of me posting here is to mention it to those who follow the ILB backstory. I personally had heard of firefly, but had no idea how similar River's story was to Yasmine's, and I wrote the whole series off as a Buffy spin-off. Thought it would be good to mention it to those who wouldn't pay attention otherwise Wink

i finally got around to seeing Firefly with Incyr and Silrn this past weekend, i had assumed i was the last geek on the planet to do so. when Simon gave River's backstory, i remarked "oh! THAT sounds familiar!"

and they even let me borrow the DVD's! w00t!

 		coffee, I know for a fact you aren't the last geek on the planet to see Firefly... beekeeper geek at least... I'm about half done the half season right now. And I was just about to make a post about the 'synchronicity', before seeing that while I was away last week that had already happened... Razz too late...

but oh my, what a parallel. Except, obviously, River wasn't made into an AI Smile the underlying similarities though are striking, and eerie.. even down to River's quiet voice...
