[New Trailhead?] Genpets

http://www.genpets.com/

So either this is a hoax, or an ARG, or the very very slim possibility it's real. A lot of work went into making the site, but I don't see a whole lot out of the ordinary. I'm going to email the support address and see what I get.

My bet's on hoax, but I thought I'd throw it around here and ask what you guys thought.

EDIT:: by the way, emailed support. Got an auto response.

i see no reason to lock this thread. If people want to discuss the artist, let them. If people would like to discuss the way this was found and thought to be an ARG, that's quite on-topic. I myself was pulled in by someone linking to it in chat. I did an investigation into the domain registry, found a person's name, googled it, and ended up with information about the artist and this sculpture installation. It was a good lesson in both ARG research techniques and in being skeptical before assuming that *everything* weird on the internet *must* be a trailhead.

And if no one had replied to this thread at all, it would have dropped to the bottom of the list by itself, without needing to be locked. Now see what you've done? Locking is for thread which are out-of-control. Moderators are not here to control the free flow of conversation.

I had found this last year, but I guess not from a link here, as a search turns up nothing.

In any case, I'll move this thread to a more appropriate forum section, sice this has turned out to be neither news nor rumor. Smile
