Two questions...
Is there a problem with the 404flash.swf that comes up if you go to say ericblair.html (From the name of the poem graphic)
On the other message board, the user information includes a binary string that equates to "quantum pa".
Is that a clue or for obfuscation of the PM?

Two questions...

Is there a problem with the 404flash.swf that comes up if you enter say, "/ericblair.html" (From the poem's graphic)?

Is there any significance to the decoded binary string "quantum pa" found in the user profile on the first message board/ Or is that just an attempt to obfuscate the PM's ID?
-EDIT-
Sorry foir the double+ posting. Browser was hung and login was bad. How do I delete the previous posts?

It seems to have come from page 213. (but could be 243)

Edit: oh, and the amazon book listing found with the code in Varin's email has a sponsored link. http://www.lifetechnology.org/hyperdimensional.htm
Whether its realted or not... the "search for hyperdimensional travel" and the wide variety of products you can order has me thinking only one thing: Napoleon Dynamite...

It seems to be an IE issue. Works fine in Firefox.

Normally you can delete your own posts as long as no one else had posted after you - just hit the little x in the right hand corner of your post, and you'll be asked if you want to delete. If you're logged in as Guest, or someone posts after you, you can no longer delete them (but you can still edit).

Ahhh I haven't had this much fun since Synagoga!
Very Happy
Got an email from Islington! I told him I went to Colgate and the like, just to explain. And regarding all the REs, no, we didn't send that many messages back and forth.... yet.

Quote:

RE: RE: RE: RE: Colgate

Hi again Riley,
I know this is old hat but have you seen this link?
Though they probably showed you this during freshers week.

Actually I was friends with one of the founding members of Colgate, for a short while. Stuffy man, but then this was 1817, and to be honest most of the academic world was stuffy right up to the 1960's, where things started getting really quantumly sideways.

Don't worry about the seeming co-incidences though. Think of them more like 'everything happening at once'... it's only a co-incidence if you notice, and attach a significance to the event. On it's own a co-incidence is just a tree falling in the forest. It takes the thinking mind to distinguish.

I'll talk to you soon - good luck with finding the key on campus! The maps there for you.

Islington

Sadly the link didn't work, and I told him as much. Luckily, Orkid came to the rescue!
Quote:
Hi Riley, sorry for contacting you like this, my
name's Orchid, I live in Austin TX. Have you been
having trouble with a wierd guy? Like, yesterday I got
handed a piece of paper by this guy, and it had this
weblink on it, and when I checked out the email, IT
MENTIONS ME!
The thing is, I noticed afterwards that on the back
of the note, lightly, in pencil - it said
"Duckie found a key | rcroghanSPLATmail.colgate.edu |
http://www.triskabiblios.com/scribes/duckie/ "

I'm a little wierded out but mostly I'm excited. What
could all this mean? And why now?

Thanks for listening, anyway.
xOrchid

.....and now I seem to be involved in all this... Shocked Very Happy

OK, I was out tonight and it seems a bit has happened.
Now we have http://www.triskabiblios.com/scribes/duckie with a duck. FYI, the picture that comes up when you click on it is actually taken from our chapel, and of our orchestra. ALL of our school numbers start 315-228, but I'll be damned if I know how they got a number on campus. I'll try calling it for you guys in the morning, during business hours and when I can get to a phone. Its actually quite creepy that all this was arranged so quickly, and I feel very much like, right now, the game is playing me.

I got another few emails, and I don't want to take up a lot of post space, so I'll just give you the highlights.

One response from Islington, regarding the missing link.
Quote:
Orkid says it's ok to call her that. She likes it better than Orchid because it reminds her of how people from up in the North of England say 'Our Kid'. Rather than just a sappy flower.
At least that's what she said, once. She's been long dead from when this letter was first written, but her grand-daughter was a lovely girl. Turns out to be the first woman to orbit Mars (tragically, nobody actually lands on it in the History of HumanKind. But I can get in trouble for telling you that sort of thing, so I apologize. Anyway)
The message is now waiting for you. http://www.triskabiblios.com/scribes/duckie
Sorry for the delay. I can't be in two places at once you know! (strange but true)
Thanks again.

Then
Quote:
Hi again.
Although you all get more formally introduced at a later (for you) date, it would be chronologically quite usefull if I simply introduce you all electronically now.

Theres Duckie from Colgate ( rcroghanSPLATmail.colgate.edu ) , SixSidedSquare from Auckland ( tjud007SPLATec.auckland.ac.nz ) , and Orkid from Austin ( orkid_quantumSPLATyahoo.co.uk )

I'll leave you Time to come to terms with the shock. Sorry to be so abrupt but I have to Blink.

Islington

I'll be damned if I know how we're all to meet any way other than electronically, but if the guy can hide a key at my campus in less than a few hours (I assume thats the meaning of it), I don't doubt him.
Lol, sorry, I seem to be getting caught up in this.
Moving on, a final letter from Orkid. I got this in duplicate, don't know if thats important.
Quote:
Hi Riley

Thanks. I got a message from this Islington guy now
telling me I should get in contact with you. But we
are already in contact! So what, is this fate? Or did
he make it happen? Or was it going to happen anyway?

I'm a bit confused, and a bit hyper, because ever
since this first message he left me at the library,
I've been seeing the number 13. Everywhere. For
example, I was at desk number 13 when it happened. But
then, statisticly, these things happen.
I'll talk to you soon! Sounds like we're destined to
be friends!

Orkid!

Actually, does anyone want to talk to me about this? I'm starting to feel too involved, and I don't like where those implications may lie (my sn is DuckieDarko).

Hey duckie, I got that email about introducing us too, but haven't heard from orkid myself yet. That is kinda spooky how that flash has stuff personal to you, I thought it was a random pic till you said that. Anyway, look forward to meeting you Razz

315-228-7292 is indeed a fax number. Although I have no idea what we're supposed to be faxing.

Or how. If it really is a number at campus, who the heck could be in on it?
Oh, and anyone else get the feeling that this shouldn't be in timewasters? I'd be hard pressed to present evidence that this wasn't an ARG.

Edit: It really is a phone number on campus

I'm not sure if you can see this page or not, cause I'm not sure if I'm logged in to the university to access it.

Got a reply from Orkid (OMalley) with the following text:
Quote:
Hi - my name's orkid, I've also met that guy.
Heres the link he sent me, he says you'll recognise it
but not to get too strung out at first. He also told
me to say "theres no such thing as a coincidence".

I dont know if that means anything to you but there
you so. Nice to meet you!

Orkid

http://www.triskabiblios.com/mcgyver

Not sure if she's talking about Islington or my guy, but I'll ask her.
My email to Islington told of a story about a guy I met when I was burying a time capsule who convinced me to include a note from a stranded time traveller in an attempt to catch the rescue team. I offered to help any way I could, am a resourceful guy and my friends all call me McGyver (They do.).

There was a forwarded mail from Islington included with the following text:
Quote:
Note: forwarded message attached.

actII Sciii
Sir T [sings] 'O, the thirteenth day of December' -

p37

My flash is also customized "Cali" from my IP and the message in a bottle pic (Very creative). I don't know what the "2066" reference is to. I got a single frame of the orchestra as well. Not sure what the "mission accomplished" is all about.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The actual Sir Toby Belch line from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Act 2, Scene 3 is
'O, the twelfth day of December,'
The link at the bottom puts you into the search box of that site where, if you enter "TOBY" you get a flash which looks like a treasure hunt game (I have yet to go into it). The title in my (Mcgyver) page's source's is "x marks the spot" so I'm encouraged that I'm on some kind of path.
There are two more items returned in the search, one of which has a very familliar title.

This is pretty cool and the personalization reminds me of a Snoogans geocache.

Duckie:

Have you had a chance to go to the place the picture is representing and maybe looked for the number 13 anywhere. Maybe Seat 13, Row 13, or even a switch panel 13 (possibly for lighting). Also have you per chance contacted any people in the mail room like the message suggests you can do. Maybe one of them will have a message or even a fax for you.

Orkid has posted on his blog again, twice: http://www.livejournal.com/users/orkid_quantum/
He mentions a sighting of Islington on lazylaces, that Graeme link from earlier (a site I follow too by the way Very Happy )
http://www.lazylaces.com/article.asp?p=1402#comments
Islington made the following post as a comment:
Islington wrote:
am feeling trapped. At least I know things get better, with the benefit of transtemporal hindsightedness. Thanks for your help, Graeme.

XORANDOR paladin

and after Graeme (the one who runs the site) replied confused, he then replied with what looks like a message Islington sent him:
Graeme wrote:
Islington:

I'm confused. Why have you send me a receipt? What's it for? I think you may have confused me with Orkid or something - although you did get my surname correct - which is odd as I don't think that I know you. Do I?

Looking up the the 'XORANDOR paladin' on google brought me to another book, Xorandor, published by paladin books, from 1987. Little about that book here.

Looks like we are getting a nice collection of books here Smile We should sum up what we have had so far.

-edit- added the receipt link. Links to a page on triskabiblios with a pic of a receipt and a usb memory stick. Lots of numbers on it, maybe something there.

Sorry I didn't post these earlier. I was out most of the day yesterday and didn't get a chance to check my mail.

After Islington sent me the original email, I replied...

Quote:
Dear Islington,

I don't think we've made contact before. Not in my past anyway. Perhaps in
yours. I do have some experience with alternate realities. Perhaps I can
help you, but of course that depends on what sort of help you're looking
for. What are you seeking?

varin

and I got this back yesterday around 2:30...

Quote:
Hi Varin

Thanks for your concern, I have been in this Timeframe for a few days now and the unpleasant effects of the blink are begining to wear off. It's like a hangover, if you've ever happened to have drunk a whole bottle of bleachy gin. It takes this long for my concept of time to settle down, at least now I can write in the correct tense - thats a particularily annoying problem of mine.
In answer to your question, I am seeking something. It's the Library of Triskabiblios, the 13 books. They were lost in the accident when I first blinked. I don't have long so I'll keep this short... I need you to talk to orkid, I think I scared her. Her email is orkid_quantumSPLATyahoo.co.uk, and I think she'll be on her chatbox for about an hour. Though, I could be wrong, what's an hour to me?

Thanks Varin.

Sincerely, Islington

Then this morning I got...

Quote:
Varin,
I realise you can't attend, but you know someone who can (since I met them there, and they told me about you).
http://www.vibration13.com/nights
Don't be confused. Its not really so scary and you do get used to it, but I understand, it's all abit new to you.
How do you think I felt when I first found myself Blinking? Very discombobulated, I must say.
Anyway... thanks for posting all the information, it really helps the cause.
Good luck finding the key - clue: it's always in the last place you look

Regards, Islington
