Correspondence From ISlington

I've added a Triskabiblios update at lazylaces:

http://lazylaces.com/article.asp?p=1413

I'm not sure if anyone has received anything similar, but the thing of most interest is the note I got from Islington:

Events are unfolding around you, the Town of London in the months to follow will reveal a secret.

My notebook, book zero of 13, will prove a guide to those worthy growing numbers Searching and Scribing for the Triskabiblios Library.

Although this book is not one of the 13, it does give a glimpse into the Mind of Islington, a look behind the curtain of my mind into the growing mystery beyond.

Disseminate this information to your eager audience.

I cannot give direct instructions, for to strive is to succeed. The exact location of my notebook will be revealed, and every active scribe will need to play a part in it's uncovery.

May your journey be blessed with uninterupted conversation.

Islington

Yann is a Scribe

Why do they post these just as I'm getting ready to go home?

My first thought was "hiero/pictoglyphs" But my husband, who is the non-ARG'er, thinks Yann's "cover" pic looks like a boat, with someone cradled up in the hull on the left, and I have to admit, it does appear to look that way... The first book I thought of was "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad. I might be going off on a wild tangent, but I'm looking for covers of first editions of the book. I've attached a brightened copy of the image in this message for those of us who haven't photoshopped it yet...

ETA: The reason I'm looking for first editions, is because in that time period, embossing was somewhat common on the covers. (And this appears to me, whatever it is, a copy of an emboss). We don't see this kind of embossing very often in today's modern books. I have a copy of an early sewing Laughing book my great grandmother had with embossed thread and needle on the cover. It was published somewhere around the turn of the last century (circa 1900). I don't have the copy here with me, it is in storage at my parent's house.

Of course I could be totally wrong and off track by a couple of miles, but it is a plausible path to investigate.

It kind of looks like someone in the fetal position.

It does indeed look like someone in the fetal position; someone none to happy to be on that boat. And that black smudge in the stern? Well.. maybe I'm seeing what I want to see (which, now that I think about it, is a recurring theme in this thing - you get out what you put in; this entire game, if it is a game, is one big Rorschach test), but it reminds me a little of this image:

Which is, of course, Charon.

A stretch? Probably.

Life of Pi. He is stuck on a boat like that with a tiger.

Life of Pi was written by Yann Martel.

I do not think that our Yann is the author...I just think that 'I' is having fun with his name. Wink Kinda like 'I' did with Withe's page(referring to that obscure oriental site that happened to use the name Withe).

Just my 2 cents(or less). Wink

Curiouser and curiouser.....

Yup....most def Life of Pi:

It's possible, Incog. In the meantime, MG and I have been brainstorming and throwing ideas out there. Very Happy

Did you look at the cover of Life of Pi that I linked to?

If you are trying to figure out where the picture you posted above (yannreadmecover.gif) is....it is most definitely from Life of Pi.

It is actually quite a nice little book. Falls into what I call the 'Light Philosophy' catagory of lit.

Wink

I may not post that often....but you can be assured that I am paying attention and keeping my eyes(and mind) open. I have been watching this quest unfold since day one......and plan to see it through to whatever end(beginning?) may come. Wink

Curiouser and curiouser....

For all that has been; Thanks.
To all that is to come; Yes.
