Hi,
I've been lurking over here for awhile, so I finally registered.
I was intrigued by the symbol on the blurry page, next to the author page in the journal. I've been looking it up and the closest thing I have found yet is here: http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/50/index.html
This is it's descpription:
50:16 · The ancient structure has been found both in pre-Columbian America and in Bronze Age Europe. In Europe it is especially associated with the Celtic tribes. In the variation it appears in modern times in France as a sign for Jeune Bretagne, a separatist movement, mainly among those living in Bretagne of Celtic origin.
The basic symbol is associated with migrations or independent movements of tribes or clans.
I'm continuing to look. It is familiar somehow, and will continue to bother me until I remember where I've seen it. Confused
Guess I'll be up pretty late tonight.

Ok, I am supposed to be going to bed now...but....

SixSidedSquare's page caught my eye. I recognize almost all of the symbols....but do not have the time nor the brain power to look for the 3 of them that I don't tonight. I will be gone all day 2moro so will not be back on till late night.

starting at the top
1) Kara- symbol of eternal life- Sikh OR Simple ring- symbol of eternity in many faiths.

2) Om- another symbol of the infinite- Hindu

3) Star of David- Jewish

4) Torii- Shinto

5) Yin-Yang- Taoist

6) Eight spoked wheel- Symbolizes the eightfold path- Buddhist

7) I dunno

Cool Latin Cross- Christian

9) Star and Crescent- Islamic

10) I dunno...in fact...I cannot really see it

11) Eye of God- Egyptian in origin but used by many faiths

12) I dunno

13/the center) The Lotus - a symbol of purity and resurrection in several faiths.

Now, the kinda creepy thing (it is late...I am more easily creeped out) is the fact that, with the exception of the eight spoked wheel and the 3 unknown, I have all of these symbols drawn in my journal. Shocked

Also, I thought that some of you might find the following interesting.

Brahamism
This is the sum of duty: Do naught unto others which would cause pain if done to you. -Mahabbaratas:6517

Buddhism
Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.
-Udanavarga 5:18

Confucianism
Is there one maxim which ought to be acted upon throughout one's whole life? Surely it is the maxim of loving kindness: Do not unto others what yu would not have them do unto you. -Analects 15:23

Taoism
Regard your neighbors gain as your own, and your neighbors loss as your own loss. -T'as-Shang Kan Ying Pi'en

Judaism
What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. That is the entire law: all the rest is commentary. -Talmud Shabbat 31a

Christianity
All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. -Matthew 7:12

Islam
No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself. -Sunan

This also came from my journal. I think it rather appropriate if what Islington is trying to tell us is that all faiths merge into one.

On that note. To bed go I.

Peace

there is a del.icio.us user called islington, but they havent posted anything, nor enabled their email link

i dont know how long they have been registered, perhaps its someone else, ..., but i'll keep an eye on it
http://del.icio.us/islington

Random Thoughts

ou = open university? or the french for 'where' as in 'scooby-doo where are you'? but this kind ofstuff is enless, its like R W Wilsons 'law of fives', innit?

london/speculate = financial zone, ..., does this stretch back to tudor times? I think it may just do so, i'll keep reading to find earliest london financial building, ..., but i imagine they all burnt down in the great fire which was post Tudor
Theres a Tudor Street in london, i dont know how long its been there, its in Blackfriars & would just be on the bottom left of the map
Islington must be on the map, is there anything there?, the angel pub (though not the building) predates the great fire.

The Latin motto of London is "Domine dirige nos" which means "Lord, direct us". which seems appropriate & even if its a co-incidence than so what, ... etc?

I've been trying to think of other sites that islington might use
http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com/books/search
might be one, ..., my own net connection is so poor that i cant really do all the research required

I couldnt find a review of any book at amazon.com by islington nor izlington

I doubt al this helps much but well you know how it is, possibly
cheers
markp

Wow, he's been busy, anyway I was looking through the scribes when I noticed something that's most probably nothing, but Islington seems to change his signature constantly, i.e Izlington, xLz, (the sideways 8 and some sort of F over it, it's on graeme's page, I dunno what to make of it), Islington, Ixlington, wonder if means anything at all?

and you probably on picked up on this but on Moutain Girl's scribe page there is a link to a webpage that asks to save thier family home, and if you click the link to go to this guys blog (http://anhonestplea.blogspot.com/) you find the same moon phase thing as on triskabiblios, also the wife seems to be following triskabiblios closly, also, the name the guy gives the blog is "Tennessee Jed", the title of an ungratefull dead song, just thought I'd point it out

also on jackalope's page thw word "anachronistic" which is defined as...
# The representation of someone as existing or something as happening in other than chronological, proper, or historical order.
# One that is out of its proper or chronological order, especially a person or practice that belongs to an earlier time

maybe a link to time travel?

Click on the moon phase icon on the new page there is a new addition:

http://www.tortuga.com/eng/index.php

This site is dedicated to the belief the current calendars should be changed to a 13 month 28 day lunar cycle thus harmonizing the world and universe.

I can vouch, that blog is OOG (Out of Game) and Mountain Girl's site. I think Triscal saw how people were overanalyzing into it, and called attention to one of our golden rules.

I understand that it is the nature of a puzzler to look deeper into things instead of taking them at face value, but Mountain Girl has done nothing to earn our distrust, so I say lay off the analyzing for a while and give the poor gal some peace and send some positive vibes her way.

They're having some problems right now and even if we all can't assist them financially, we all need to be sending some good vibes/good thoughts/good wishes their way that they don't lose their home. They've got kids for goodness' sake, give them a break. We've seen that Triscal has drawn in OOG things in to make a point, or make a connection with us players, maybe now he's reminding us to think about how it would be if the shoe was on the other foot and we were in MG's position.

I'm not attacking anyone, don't think that at all. I like everyone here at UF, and over at LL. But fate has thrown us together in this game as a team, and I just think we should quit giving MG grief over this (Goodness knows she has enough on her plate already) and we could better serve our time trying to think up a possible solution for our Dearest Girl of the Mountains than picking her plea apart as if it were some kind of clue. I say we use our crafty research skills and get to googling some possible answers and solutions for this family. Remember, we're all in this together, as one. Let's prove that by showing when one of us falls, others will be there to help pick you up.

As far as Mountain Girl and Tennessee Jed go.....I think that this is one thing that we need not read more into.

Yes, Tennessee Jed is the title of a Grateful Dead ditty.....and, actually, Mountain Girl is the 'name' of Jerry Garcia's ex-wife(she was also one of the Merry Pranksters). The Moon Phase tracker is readily available and easy to download.

So, what we have are a couple of goodhearted (read their journals) Deadheads who happen to be having a run of rotten luck, and also happen to be interested in the phases of the moon. Islington recognized their plight and, since one of his apparent goals is to bring us all together as a community, brought our attention to it. That is it. No conspiracy, no mystery, no trick.

Some things really are just as they seem.

Now, as far as Jackalope being 'anachronistic'....I do not know much about computers, but is BASIC an outdated computer language? If it is....Islington could be poking fun at dear Jackalope. Wink

Back to work for me. Cursing Wink

Carry on (without me...for now)...

Edit: Heh...looks like Withe beat me. Razz

I guess that is what I get for working and Triskafying at the same time.

Catch ya'll later...
