Good eyes Kitkatgirl....a couple of us last night were trying to figure out what was around the edges....but I guess our monitors(or our eyes) are not as sharp as yours!

I wholeheartedly agree that somewhere/somehow we are to figure out a set of coordinates in order to locate Book Zero. As to whether or not we have them yet.....your guess is as good as mine. Wink

Curiouser and curiouser....

Well if the Tortuga forums link mentioned earlier has anything remotely to do with this hunt (http://forums.tortuga.com/viewtopic.php?t=149[/url]), then we do have some letter-number combos. The XORANDOR from that page is G5, A6, F4. Do those correspond to anything useful on the map?

I looked at A6 and F4. I don't see a G anywhere, so it'll have to wait. Anyway, the light blue circle is where A6 is and the pinkish one is where F4 would be. That's all I have.

Edit: Okay, if you can't see it, the light pink one is near the y in your.

Must get around to registering here, really...

More on the two maps of London. I'm not a Londoner, but using Google maps I've come up with the following observation:

The first map, with the image of Newton as divine geometer which pops up when you roll your mouse over (saying 'I am your starting point') appears to be a map of London in the Tudor era (late 1400s-early1600s). Oldmap.co.uk suggests this map came from an atlas published in 1610, which is before the Great Fire. The map shows an area on the north bank of the river Thames, running from Aldgate in the east, including Bishopsgate and Moorgate and running about as far as the site of the modern St Paul's in the west. To the north, it shows the area about as far north as the modern Barbican station. There are 4 points on the map which might be significant:

1. where Newton is pointing with his finger: appears to be on the other side of the road from Monument Tube station, possibly in King William Street. Just north of the northern end of London Bridge.

2. the right arm of the compass appears to lie just a bit east of point 1, probably at the eastern end of Monument Street.

3. the left arm of the compass is in the Thames, due south of St Paul's.

4. the shadow of the vertex made by the compass hinge is projected onto Mansion House Place or St Swithin's Lane, just south of the Bank Tube station.

The second map shows a completely different area of London on the back of a spiral bound notebook. This area is west of the first map, starting at the Strand in the SE, and running up to Euston station in the NW. It appears to be based on the current pattern of streets in London, but the roads and squares (eg. Russell Square) have been blocked out in black. The area includes Piccadilly in the west, Covent Garden in the middle, Lincoln's Inn Fields in the east and the Euston Road at the top. Most of the bombs in July went off in these areas, south of King's Cross. This map is given at fairly low resolution, but you can make out the grid markers at the top (ABCDEF) and at the side (indecipherable). It looks as if it's been photoshopped, maybe from a satellite image wit the roads drawn on in black.

So we know where to look (but which map?), and when (the FOUND bookmark suggests it will be found on the full moon, showing a full, empty circle). Now we need someone to work out a grid reference...

Great, I'm home! Sorry Shy for adding so incongruously to the already oversized thread...Im new to all this ARG business and got a bit over -excited when I thought I had something to contribute. I have been following this avidly since the very second Graeme posted on lazylaces and would love to help out where I can. I also dont mind being told off every so often if I deserve it! Very Happy

As for the posts since,

Its definitely the numbers 1 - 9 down the left hand side. 1 and 2 are hidden beneath the text of the poem but if you look carefully, you can make out the shapes of the other numbers.

And

Def only A - F no G...so where does that leave us?

Ive just settled down with my laptop and a glass (ok, bottle Embarassed ) of red wine so I'll put a few hard hours of thorough investigation in.

Edit: and what about the statue based on Blakes pic of Newton that i found, anyone any ideas on that?

I liked the idea of trying 2-C....since the beginning of the Blake line is To See. Seems like the kind of twist Islington would use. To bad it does not go 0-9 I would suggest B-0(Book Zero).

Honestly, no other singular letters or numbers come to mind from the material we have been presented with thus far....though....I am only just now getting home from work so I shall take a more thorough look.

I am soooo happy that some of you guys have monitors worth a damn.....I still can only vaguely make out squiggles on the sides of the map! Wink

Carry on....

Yeah, the 2 C thing felt kinda nice to me too. I only had a short time in work to look closely to where that point corresponds to on the map, but from what i could tell, it pointed to Judd Street. An extensive Google search on that didnt lead to anything much tho, the only thing that vaguley pricked my interest was a Photographic Book Shop, but I didnt have much time to investigate further. I'll take a closer look and see if I can come up with anything.

Okay my children, in the spirit of minimizing the weight of this thread, (and organization) we now have a new thread to discuss all things Book Zero. Let's move the Book Zero convo to here.
