[OOG] SpaceElevator.com

I found a website through google that talk in detail about space elevators, it's (aptly named) http://www.spaceelevator.com/. ...I can't decide if this is OOG or in-game...

EDIT: Sorry about the misplaced post - could you help me figure out where info about this possibly OOG site should be posted? Thanks!

prolly OOG, BUT...

My first impression is that this spaceelevator.com is OOG. However, did anyone else notice how similar the graphic at the top of their page is to the header of orbiconcorp.com? The two images look to be of the same station, only at a different angle:

vs.
http://orbiconcorp.com/images/space_elevator.jpg

There even seems to be a "detached pod" floating in the backgrount; similar to that in the trailer video on orbitalcolony.com.

The "Space Elevator Competition update on spaceref.com also has some 'hi-tech' graphics (http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=17844).

[UPDATE] Actually I think it is the same image. I have taken the pic from spaceref.com, mirrored it vertically, and rotated 50 degrees:

SpaceElevator.com OOG?

I originally (erroniously) posted this message in another topic, in response to a message from Nep2ne regarding the site, spaceelevator.com. Thought it might be good to give it it's own thread for feedback:

SpaceElevator.com is OOG.

1. The domain was registered in 1999, way before the idea for Orbital Colony even arose.

2. Unless there is another version of that picture around, it cannot be the same as the Orbital Colony version - simply because once you blow it up to the OC size, you lose all detail.

3. There are other minor differences between the pictures. While the NASA picture may have inspired the OC version, it's not the root source of the picture.

Well, I realize that the 2 images aren't the same file. Rolling Eyes
That being said, if there is a higher resolution file out there, these two images could've spawned from it (one rotated & cropped for use on orbiconcorp.com, while another simply resized for thumbnail use on spaceelevator.com).
I suspect that there is a 'parent' version, which was most likely supplied to these 2 sites by NASA (since they are credited with the thumbnail on spaceelivator.com), but you're right; this is most likely OOG.
I just thought it interesting that they were so similar, and that it warranted mention. Smile

I realize everyone is excited about this game starting. And i'm glad everyone is putting effort into looking for info. But you should keep in mind that the space elevator is a real project and there are lots of OOG sites about it. So just don't look to hard. LINK
