No, it's not. However, it is a darker shade of blue than before.

Just as an aside/concurrance to what was said previously, I played Project Gateway, and this has a lot of resonance with that game. (Also, I forget what the name of the religion was called there, I want to say Order of the Judges? (I'm too lazy to look it up again), but that had the whole "new world order" feel to it too.) Anyway, I would not be surprised if this game is from the PG people. I really liked the first one (even though it was done on a shoestring and not really THAT awesome, but the gameplay and feeling was right), and now, obviously with a larger budget, this really looks good. (Although the spelling errors are kind of concurrent as well...) If it's not PG 2.0, then I'm surprised. (Anyone have time to re-examine those "postcards" we got a while ago again, and see if they're in a similar vein?)

[rambling]I wonder if there will be another page using "You Gotta Die For the Government" in the background. That was TEH COOLEST part of Project Gateway, IMHO. I don't know why... just a great gaming moment. Smile[/ramble]

For what it's worth (relatively little, I am certain), I'm definitely playing this one.

Ok, that solidifies it. This is DEFINITELY referring to Project Gateway (I also checked out the old project gateway site, and it's got some new stuff up (I didn't search, so let the fish fly) but yeah, the Queen of Hearts, and all that, is DIRECTLY from PG. Yay! I'm SO in this one. (Good job so far, PMs! Much improved!)

While you are with us Dorkm... what about all that stuff with dimensional echoes and the like? Is that PG?

Could someone give a quick recap of project gateway for those of us who didn't play?

No way really to give a 'quick recap' of an ARG. I'm sure someone could give you a general outline, but if this thing really is connected to PG in some way, you'll want something much more detailed I'd imagine.

Here is the PG archived pages. Jaunt around and see what you can find out. That's the best I can offer since I didn't play PG either.

Wow, this is definitely looking Project Gateway-related to me.

A summary.. hmm.. the old wiki is still up here if that helps. If not I can try and dig deep into my brain for a story summary.

Project Gateway was all about this group of "superpowered people" who were locked up and their skills being tested and checked to build "supersuits" that could harness their powers. I never got to endgame (sequoya was hardcore into it as well as Stormalong, so feel free to ask them) so I actually don't know how it all ended as I was in the hospital with my pregnant wife, and then home without access to the internet for the month and a half when things really wrapped up.

Anyway, there was the "Project Gateway into Nightmares" that was this whole "testing facility" thing (and it all apparently took place inside cyberspace? Correct me if I'm wrong there)

Also, there was a girl, Emily, who had a site 32nd notes, which was this one teenage girl's music blog, that was taken over (and was one of the escaped "superpowered people" named Cyberstrike) to send us messages through corrupted MP3s and sekrit pages and stuff. the mom of Emily was working for the project, and that's how that was linked...

(sorry for the randomness... It was a while ago)

Um, let's see, there was also "the Order of the Judges" (IIRC) that was this quasi-religious group that watched over the whole world essentially, and protected things from behind the scenes. (They had a website, that I forget, or maybe got destroyed?) and they'd talk to us using Yahoo poker chat rooms (as one of the "priests" liked to play poker, so it was a more secure, unlikely place to have sekrit conversations.) (great story idea, and a fun way to have chats, IMO.)

Anyway, that's really all I remember. There were keys you had to find in source, texts, and corrupted file garbledygook, and you "handed them" to a guard via an email address, who would then unlock a room for you on the project gateway site.

The only thing I've seen so far that is a direct link is the mp3 file attached to rose's email (was also given to sequoya earlier, as referenced earlier in the thread) and Ms. Requiem, the Queen of Hearts, was totally a character from the project gateway game.

Hope that helps. You're probably better off checking out the UF old thread, as well as the PG2 Cool Desktops thread in this same "ARGs with Potential" heading.

Sorry to double post...

There was no "direct link" with that stuff, but it's very much the same style of writing, IMO. This has PG written all over it, I'm certain of it. (I'd be willing to bet my receding hair on it! Smile)
