finally all caught up. i just spent the last hour catching up on 18 pages of this thread and im excited to say...im game!

i live in pa, about 50 miles from pottsville. i prolly wont be able to make it there if anything happens, but its cool knowing that. but if we absolutely need someone to get there i should be able to find a way.

i didnt follow pg1 but i was a lurker during ILB and im hoping this can be my first actual ARG. where i am an actual contributor to anything productive.

welcome to PG2, loismustdie!

Good timing getting on board, as I really think this Saturday (or possibly tomorrow, depending on what date you think will really be the first new spark) will be the true start of the game. You're in at the ground floor, baby! Smile

But after playing PG1 (a none-too-technical, but innovative game), I can pretty much assure you that if you liked ILB, you will also like PG2. If it's anything like the first one, it will be good with the story, and great with fun and interesting puzzle ideas. (Sorry PM, if I'm adding too much pressure here. Laughing) I still think the whole "key" system (see the archive for Project Gateway for the details on how that whole thing worked) was really a great and inventive one! Anyway, I'm rambling now. Enjoy the game, and we're glad to have you with us on this one!

Hecuva (I'm certain I've misspelt that name, so forgive me) but I don't necessarily think it's a horrible idea to bring a camera though... or video or some way to relate to us what you saw as soon as you did...

(Perhaps you know someone at the school who would allow you computer access to upload any images so we can see what the drop contained ASAP?)

well if they have wifi i won't have to worry about using one of their computers. i'm just not 100% sure if i got a good enough program to save it on here to upload it. but i can talk to my friend that moves stuff from dv to computer all the time and he can help me get it up to you guys.
oh and if it's something scanable, i know a few people with scanners so worst comes to worst you'll still get SOMETHING

and of course... i'll get it to you guys ASAP..

Wow, gatecrashers, beekeepers, ARG newbies... and me and nos. I suppose I'm the only one who jumped over from PXC. (Still playing PXC, but this one seems more puzzle-solvey, so I'm in) In all the excitment yesterday, I almost missed the release of the new Coheed and Cambria album. That's saying something.

Don't forget the metaurchins! At least, I hope there are/will be more of us.

(I'm a beekeeper-lurker and a PCX-dropout.)

MetaUrchins are the people who played MetaCortechs. An ARG from 2003.

"meta" is a term that's hard to explain, so I'll leave that to someone else to explain.

the Metaurchins were the players of the ARG 'Metacortechs' based on the Matrix universe.

Meta is anything derived from a subject. For example, a "[META][PG2]" thread would be a thread about something not necessarily in game, but still relating to the game in some way.

Metaurchins is the name the Metacortechs players gave themselves, after a puzzle in the game used "urchins" (or was it "urchin?" oh, memory) as a password solution.

Meta, from Wikipedia:
Quote:
Meta (Greek: "about," "beyond"), is a common English prefix, used to indicate a concept which is an abstraction from another concept, used to analyze the latter. For example "metaphysics" refers to things beyond physics, and "meta language" refers to a type of language or system which describes language.

Meta discussions on this board, for instance, are discussions that generally explore the why and wherefore of gaming, and of creating alternate realities.

Although, really, metaurchins was because of metacortechs. Smile

edited to add: I post way too slow!
