We're quite sure that there must be more to this than just one poster with the website on-Sylvia's clue said there would be keywords we have to find to make up a website.
the full text of the poster is:
Quote:
the
receda
approach
the new hit band, inspired by perplex city and landing on earth soon. playing songs from their debut album, the next power. songs include:
The GMC
Exclusion Principle
Sculptor
Titanic
Between a First Class Life
and their upcoming new single
*Supernovae
Any ideas...possibly some exhibits/statues/memorials in Kensington....a quick search of the science/natural history museums and V&A proved fuitless, possibly crossword clues involved...any ideas then call Reason.

I agree. Cinema advertising will be WAY too expensive. I don't think this will be an actual event, just as the band are unknown to us and probably fictional. I'm sure it's all just one big coded message.
You are maybe overestimating how expensive cinema advertising can be. I've considered it for my own ARG uses, and still-screen ads can be had for a not too unreasonable amount of money.
Thinking about it, at one of my local cinemas the local schools and shops run adverts (before the proper trailers start) so it can't be too expensive.

Is it just the yellow bit that was the poster... or the whole picture... just seems the perspective is off with the tape on the corners of the yellow part..?? Just my eyes..?? Someone behind it holding it up..??

The poster was sellotaped to a glass partition wall face down.
Here's another one.

I agree. It's also possible there's more than one poster, or something in addition to the posters that we should be looking for. Perhaps the posters will lead us to something else once we determine what they're encoding.
That having been said, I have no idea what could be hidden in the posters

I noticed a connection between the song names and astrophysics stuff. I, Atrophied, and and others in IRC have been looking into this angle and will have more info shortly....

same here, with the exception of first class life. The "stellar" bit wasn't that subtle

I've directed Reason etc to the school of physics/astrophysics at Imperial College after finding a paper mentioning "exclusion principle" and "titanic" written by Imperial College people.
Maybe there will be more posters at different Schools of the college relating to the song titles. Long shot but worth a try while we still have people on the ground at Imperial.

Was there anything on the back of the posters? Like a word written in a corner or something of that sort?

No, nothing on the back. I took one down and checked

OK, this post will be for definitions of the "song titles" and how they relate to each other.
The GMC
GMC stands for Greater Magellanic Cloud (or Larger Magellanic Cloud in the US). It is a dwarf galaxy in orbit around the Milky Way. In 1987 there was a supernova explosion within the GMC - SN1987A .
ALSO: GMC = Giant Molecular Cloud
These are the largest molecular bodies in the universe and the only place where stars and planets are known to form.
Exclusion Principle
This refers to the Pauli Exclusion Principle which states that no two identical fermions* may occupy the same space simultaneously.
*(protons, neutrons, electrons, neutrinos, quarks and small atoms such as He-3)
Sculptor
Sculptor is a constellation located at:
Right Ascension 0h
Declination -30º
It was introduced by Lacaille in 1763 and therefore there is no mythology surrounding it.
It contains the Sculptor Dwarf Galaxy adn the South Galactic Pole
Titanic
This could refer to one of two things.
1- Titanic Supernovae Explosions
2- Titanic Collision Lights
1: A titanic supernova explosion (see also: Type 1a supernova) is when a small, dense star accretes matter from a larger star until it the pressure is too great for the stars gravity to contain. This is the most visible type of supernova, and was first witnessed by Tycho in 1572.
2: see this link. It's the only good info I can find on it and sums it up neatly.
Between a First Class Life
This is the most tentative link to supernovae/astrophysics.
We (in #syzygy) speculated that this merely refers to type 1 supernovae. But we aren't sure. If you have a better definition, please post it.

sweet the theatre's in Toronto I'll be there!
Now I'm just wondering if I have a film buddy or am I the only one in toronto
Oh does anyone have an idea of how to sneak a digicam into a theatre?
I would like to document the ad for you guys but the theatres in TO get pretty pissed when they see a camera.

I got to the Beit Quad a bit late today so didn't meet up with the guys who arrived at 13:33. I was kind of dissapointed that there were no puzzles to really solve there and then.
As I walked in trying to find people I could recognise, I saw the poster which was covering the Grolsch ad, and saw the word Receda, and was like wtf? it looks like something to do with Perplex City, and it did.
Now its the turn for the people in Toronto to help us out, although I doubt that thing is real, because if it is real, we have a serious problem. They don't let you take photographs or videos of any kind in cinemas, so we probably won't be able to get images of the ads, unless people are willing to take a risk at getting prosecuted...

you dont get prosecuted - you just might get thrown out -- but i doubt it
and it dont matter getting thrown out if you already got the pics
you can always say, as you fly out of the door, " hey I been thrown out of better places than this"
