a quick scan on wikipedia leads to:

Quote:

September 23 is the 266th day of the year (267th in leap years). There are 99 days remaining. Also an important date in pagan history celebrating autumn.

My 2c, for what it's worth... "99 days remaining" is equal to 3-33's Confused

bah! can't believe I missed this... finally an arg(ish) thing in the area, after I'm away from UF for a few weeks, and check back 2 days after the event... *sigh*. Doesn't sound like I missed anything though... still, to meet up with some people would have been nifty; assuming I could convince a friend to drive me up to one of those cities from Kitchener Razz

ah well...

This might sound a little nuts, and I think someone may've mentioned it above, but has anyone thought to ask the theater employees if they've noticed any songs being repeated often, or new ads, or anything like that?

'playing pre-show support' seems a strange way of putting it to me. Do those theaters have any of those 'moving posters' that are getting more common?

Maybe if we missed something (and it seems from the Sentinel that we did) the people who are there all day might have noticed something new or odd.

Other than that, I can only suggest staying through the entire credits sequence, until they turn the lights back on again and start shooing you out.

This is almost certainly referring to the pre-show, pre-preview loop that most theaters around here run continuously between showings. Normally the fare consists of quick trivia (and trivial) puzzles, find the hidden Pepsi, and the like - but also includes some still ad spots bought locally. One or more of those spots is what I'd be looking for. Eh, Canadians?

[edit: oops, looks like I should trout myself here - previous poster nailed it already]

Okie, I'm hitting the Newmarket Silver City tonight for Transporter 2 at 6:30pm. (any reason to watch Jason Statham for an hour and a half is good enough for me Very Happy )

I'll get there at least half an hour early to watch the ads before the lights go down...hopefully something pops up

I was thinking maybe we should come up with some other places that might be considered "pre-show support" so we don't miss anything. I still think it's most likely going to be a slide or something in the theater itself, but just in case...

So, in addition to the ads and music inside the actual theater, how about checking:
o Your ticket stub (some theaters around here have ads on the back of the stub, or little blurbs on the front about upcoming movies)
o All the movie posters in the lobby, outside, etc
o Talk to all the workers in the theater and ask them if they know anything about The Receda Approach
o Check any scrolling marquis type signs to make sure there's nothing in them
o The bathrooms... Who knows Smile

That's all of my ideas... I wonder how long this "pre-show support" thing is going to go on for. It doesn't have an end date listed, just a begin date.

Good luck and have fun!

Maybe you could print out one of the photos of the poster, show it around to the staff and see if it rings a bell?

Saw something

Hey there - I haven't been around for a while (sorry). I was at the movies up in Richmond Hill last night. Before the movie started there was an ad with dark colours, flickering images - wasn't really paying attention until the end. Saw something that said receda sign (and well, how often does the word receda pop up in normal english?)- just checked www.therecedasign.com now and it looks like a PC website. Hmmmm....

Anyone else going see this? It was pretty short, you'll have to be paying attention to notice it.

EDIT: Ooops - thanks for everyone that noticed. The website is www.therecedasign.com - with a THE.

wow, nice work! Doesn't really make sense with the whole 'key words' clue though. Also does have anything to do with The Receda Approach. Could there be more than one advert to look out for?
