I'm liking this so far - good story. I'll try out the poker tables later today.

I was under the impression TheDealer was dead, too. Aren't we all dead in the game? And under many profiles of characters, I've noticed (alive) or just (offline). TheDealer is (offline) right now. Does anyone know whether it says (alive) when he's on?

The dealer is not dead - he is alive and posting.

I think the person that died is Lucy's grandfather. Because on Robert Brown's page, in the Aqua Velva Man text, Robert says "Said he couldn't do it, his father's favorite gun, sentimental value and all that bullshit" about himself. Since Robert is Lucy's uncle, his father would be her grandfather (and the person leaving her the gun).

I'd concur that the dealer (Lionel Brown) is Lucy's father, but I'm a little thrown that his profile page is titled "Uncle Lucky Brown". Plus, the way he talks about Lucy: "Lucy was my favorite--the only other black sheep in our woolly white family. I can't rest thinking maybe I dealt her the dead man's hand." That just doesn't sound very fatherly Confused

If you look under "The Muck", it says "I left a gun to my favorite niece, Lucy. Because of that, my son is dead. "

Same thing for flatline, I think it is just someone shuffling a deck of cards and then saying "Here's your card." Probably the Dealer.

Thanks for the recap, Rose. I wanted to add that Paco and the Viet brothers are members of gangs...there's a sub-story there.

This is definitely in LA. I lived there once, so let me explain the 11 numbers being dialed.

In LA, so many people live there that they have gone to an 11-digit phone number system. (New York City and Atlanta also have them.) Basically, a caller has to dial the area code without the "1" in front. It's very normal to people who live in those area, so the PMs probably didn't think it was odd at all - it's just odd to the rest of us.

So I don't think it's anything important...except maybe to let us know that it's in LA. Which is obvious because of the references to Hollywood and gang names (Crips and Bloods).

Also, the dealer is dead. If you see an "offline" under a character's picture, they re dead. This casino is in a very special place.

Well, Marrec was chatting with thedealer yesterday. I don't know if it was someone pretending to be him, though. Gah.

It was hikerdOOd. And hikerdOOd is definitely dead. He fell off a mountain.

the dealer left the gun to Lucy in his will. He's dead.

Again, this casino is in a very special place.

No Mac.

I found that if you enable Safari's debug menu, turn off its popup blocking, open a new window/tab, select Debug->User Agent->Windows MSIE 6.0, then go to http://www.lastcallpoker.com:8080/PokerClient/lobby.aspx , it seems to work. You can't just set the agent string and click "Play Poker" because it opens a new window and the new window defaults back to the Mac/Safari agent string.

i'm able to access the poker area using this information, but not under my username. i only have guest access, which means that i can only use the practice tables. have you found a way around this problem?

thanks.

a.

Wow, this is so confusing. So, Lucy is this person's niece. And his son - I'm presuming it's Robert Brown - is also Lucy's uncle? Which would also make Robert Lucy's cousin... Whuh?

Thedealer seems to be active, but all the evidence indicates that Lionel "lucky" Brown is dead.
As far as relationships go, i think that thedealer is Lucy's uncle and Robert's father (shown by "I left a gun to my favorite niece, Lucy. Because of that, my son is dead.") (making him the original owner of the gun, which could be the meaning of "I can't rest thinking maybe I dealt her the dead man's hand" (the cant rest could also be a reference to the "never rest. Never rest. Never rest." in tips for the living and the dead)).
On a different note thedealer's profile talks about lucy getting kicked out of convent school, and "Giant economy sized pack of pork rinds" (from pacocisneros) mentions that the clerk at the Deli-Mart "Everybody said he'd been a priest. That he'd slept with some sixteen year old girl or something and they'd thrown him out."
could be a connection there, especially since he came to help lucy at the cemetery. (preacher is identified as the clerk in the police report).
Might consider trying to draw something showing the probable relationships between characters at some point.

Sorry about the atrocious grammar and spelling there :S

Yes: the dealer is definitely dead, which is why he needs our help. I wasn't sure that hikerd00d was dead - although the Darwin award sounded like he was --- but then. um. what does that mean about Marrec... Marrec, you are alive right. Wink

I'll work through the relationships later.

The whole premise is that we can play poker with the dead here. Which is kinda cool and reminds me of a song.
