Yep, seriously!

And considering that I just learned hold 'em day before yesterday, I've found that people have already had lots of fun taking my money!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There is contact info for Tom Ghepetto.

Ace Communications
Tom Ghepetto, 415-267-6986
tghepettoSPLATlastcallpoker.com

Seeing as this is clearly a pseudonym, should we treat it as in-game?

I called the number...but got a very bored-sounding message saying, "Leave a message"

I'll bet my hat, as they say, that this is a game number. That press release was NOT legit.

(Oh, and audioslave, jump on in! It's fun. This is my first one, too. Well, after triskabiblios got boring....)

Hey guys, I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll just stick it on the back of here. I signed up for this lovely looking game yesterday, and was all ready to take some serious chips, but there seems to be a problem. I got my confirmation email (two duplicate ones infact), but the little link to active your account doesn't seem to be working. So prompted by the "This action has failed" page, I sent them a mail, which BOUNCED. I tried again today, but to no avail. Because both didn't seem to work, I was thinking there might be something wrong with the servers or the like. Can anyone clarify that, because I would hate to miss out on this game just because my email isn't working. Laughing Thanks kids!

Ha! Not at all. It's too perfect to not be in-game.

This is such a slick game, so whomever is behind it wouldn't leave glaring mistakes like this one out in the open for us to find.

You know, this whole game is delightfully tongue in cheek. They really are not even trying to hide from us this time round! It really is not as much "this is not a game" as "you know what? this really is a game, now lets go have some fun! ooo look its Kristen! YAY!" and ya know. I like it!

I am not sure why it was spoilered, exactly, but the Gheppetto references do sort of harken back to the Beast, in terms of WHOIS info.

Damn little. There are still a couple of pretty things lying out there, but they tend to be at the meta-level. You might try taking a look at the Ghaepetto registration addresses, for example.

I wasn't sure whether that was just a little nod to the Beast, or whether it was something more. Seeing as there are voicemail messages there that it appears we're supposed to get, I'm guessing it's "more", so I've unspoilered it.

DA DUM!!!

That press release has to be a part of the game. The reverse lookup doesn't show anything, which means it's a cell phone.

Could be a cell phone for a business, you say?

I checked on the area code. Where might it be?

San Fransisco.

As in the same San Fransisco that will soon hold a very weird game of poker in a graveyard.

Need further proof?

There is no "Ace Communications" in San Fransisco.

Who's brave enough to leave a message at the number?

(I've e-mailed, but no response.)

I do not believe there are voicemail messages to retrieve at Tom Gheppetto's number. Other voicemail boxes were found, but that's quite normal when you escape out of the line you've called into the main 'directory.'

Those other boxes seem to mean nothing - they just happen to be close in digit order to the one for Tom, or because the player thought they'd try LUCY, since those digits are already spelled out in the limo service number.
