Word. It says Java's all enabled and running and happy. But it's not.

I haven't used winME either. However, if the win98 settings are similiar, the list of web browsers allowed to use java applets only has 2 entries (ie or mozilla&netscape). Only the ie box is checked (I never modified these settings), but java works just fine. I'm using win98, firefox1.07 and sun jre 1.5.0_02, and only about half of the avatars sit down at the poker table. Until reading this thread, I thought that was normal.
My suggestion, try installing mozilla . I've found it works better than firefox for some purposes especially on older computers. Also, simply having mozilla installed can make it easier to install certain plugins for firefox.

Just so this doesn't turn into a "everyone hates Mac users" thing
From the FAQ for the Beast:
Quote:
Q Was there a deliberate bias against Macs? Netscape?
A Not at all. The frantic pace of this project made it really hard to test everything that we should have. Often, we'd finish writing pieces only minutes before they had to go live! We pretty quickly became our web developer's worst nightmare, but they did the best they could with our impossible schedule, and programmed and tested first on the most common platform (IE). We learned from our mistakes as we went, but never did anything to intentionally promote one platform or browser over another.
This would also explain why things aren't "perfect" if you're not using IE. They have a very complication web application and I can't even imagine what a nightmare it is to port to different system configurations.

I noticed that at first my avatar was not properly sitting at the table. It was a cropped, from-the-waist-up image sort of floating around my chair.
Now, my character sits properly, and I will see some other people being floaty for a while. Perhaps it's deliberate? It took a few games before the 'proper' avatar really kicked in, so maybe it was a newbie thing? Dunno.
I'm using Firefox with WinXP, btw.

I had to use Firefox through WINE (I'm on Linux) for the poker applet to work, not that that helps anyone

I've noticed that too. I wrote it off to the idea that they didn't have a picture of every avatar sitting in every seat. I should try sitting in every seat, see what happens.

ive no idea why people think Java is involved. its not used on this site.
What might be, however, is the .Net framework... look at the page icon for lastcallpoker - i can a dot net icon - although it most probably refers to the server, and installing dot net on my pc didnt help.
ports:
it uses port 8080 at least
looking in the source it appears to use ports 7070 and 4001
"7070&watchHost=www.lastcallpoker.com&watchPort=4001"
and so my corporate firewall stops me from using it

The profiles also use the .net Icon.
That may explain the Microsofty type references in the source and the ToS.

I'd keep trying. I PM'd them and told them to change their link to UF when LCP got its own forum and it went through okay. Otherwise, if you think it's not going through because you're on a Mac, let me know, and I'll do it on your behalf. I just don't want to be the person bugging them all the time unless I have to.
Yeah, I can't seem to PM them either. Any chance you could send them a message on my behalf. All I want to know is if there will be anyway I can play on my Mac, or should I just give up now?
Thanks,

According to the postcard, the poker game is done in flash, which is supposed to be platform-independent, provided that there is a flash player to integrate with your browser.
Of course, I wouldn't know, since I only seem to get popups informing me that I "Can not establish connection to server."

Ahhh...the poker games are in Flash. I thought it was a java applet.
Do the people having problems have Flash 8? Maybe that's the problem.

Someone in chat solved their Firefox problems by shutting off a pesky extension that was interferring. Maybe folks can try shutting off extensions and see if that helps. Also, update your version of Flash if necessary, as others have said.

[INFO- or the lack there of]Poker on windows XP Does anyone know how to get Windows XP to access the tables?? First it say that a pop-up blocker is blocking it, so I disabled that... and then it says my computer won't let it access the internet... so, I'm thinking it is a port thing... anyone know the port name, number and type?? Cause I've tried everything I know and it has not worked...
