Re: Workaround works!

Finally got to try it under OSX 10.3.9 using most updated Safari for that OS - it worked flawlessly!

The PM's actually don't need to do much work, it's already compatible. If they can just change it so it will let our browsers through (perhaps with a warning) we will be all set!

One caveat that I've experienced - if I try to minimize the lobby, the game itself freezes up. Does anyone else experience this? Regardless, the fix is easy - don't minimize it.

So is the Mac fix up and running?

Oh, hmm, strike that for now. The mac fix does seem to be up and running, and what I said above was limited to my experience using the workaround.

Not so far as I can tell.

You still need to get around a block at LCP that bumps you out unless you are using a browser under Windows. We are getting in using Debugger tools that let us disguise our browsers so that the site thinks we are using IE6.0 under Windows. It then is fooled into allowing us in and it works fine.

SO...it is already intrinsically Mac compatible (at least for OSX 10.3.9 in my experience), but the site keeps you out unless you spoof it into thinking you are using Windows. Perhaps they will just remove the block.

Edit - wow, one minute after trying and getting bumped it now works! THE FIX IS IN!

Thank you LCP web designers!!!

Really? I just entered into the lobby without changing the User Agent. Instead of the white-with-red-text message, now there is a JavaScript disclaimer, but it lets you in to the lobby. Of course, YMMV.

Which Mac browsers work

Let's start a list of which Mac Browsers work. When we flesh it out, perhaps it can be compiled and posted on the first page of this thread.

So far I have:

Works:
Firefox 1.0.4 under OSX 10.2.8
Safari 1.3.1 under OSX 10.3.9 (it's at home I have to check final number)

Doesn't work
Safari 1.0.3 under OSX 10.2.8 (table window is 1X1 inches)

When it works or fails for you post to this thread so that others can pick a browser that will work in the the OS they are running.

Hmm. I'm not getting the same types of errors -- the Lobby simply loads as a blank white screen, and nothing further ever develops.

I'm using OS 10.1.5 (I know, I know) with Firefox 1.0.4

As I noted before, Firefox works under 10.2, but the version of Safari (1.0.3) available for 10.2 doesn't work. It produces a game window, but it is 1 X 1 inches and can't be enlarged. You may have to upgrade your system to get it working on the Mac. IE under 10.2 also doesn't work - crashing when I go the the Lobby.
