And Drawing Dead... Tombstone Hold'Em? I have no idea about poker terminology but if those are coincidences, they're just strange.
Well Drawing Dead refers to being in position on the river card (the last one) where no card can help you win.
Tombstone Hold`Em is just a term used for the specific game made up by the PMs using tombstones instead of hands.
So, I wouldn't look to hard at those.
The Nuremburg table is interesting though. Perhaps the hanging that Maurice (?) and Lucky met at was the hanging of a war criminal... with the israeli body guard, could Maurice be a Concentration Camp victim?

Here's an idea. Everyone should become obssessed with poker.
Drawing dead simply means you have no "outs" in the poker world. "Outs" are cards you think will win you the hand, assuming you're on the draw. If the flop comes 5 6 A and you hold 7 8, and you put your opponent on an Ace, then you would have eight "outs" left in the deck - 4 fours and 4 nines, which would make you a straight. Assuming there were, let's say, 43 cards left in the deck.. 3 on the board 6 in players hands.. You'd be about %20 to catch one of your outs and make your straight. So if you have to put in $20 to make $100, it's probably worth the gamble.
You always wanna leave yourself outs in poker. A situation where you'd have no outs would be if: You have 7c 8c and your opponent has Kc Qc. The flop comes 9c 10d Js. You both have a straight, but his is the best possible straight. And there are no cards that will fall that can win you the hand.

Actually, you wouldn't be drawing dead in that situation I listed , but I'm sure you get the idea. Sorry I was late to chime in, jartan basically covered it.

Nah, it's fine. I'm a poker newbie so I figured it was something like that.
Nuremberg also sticks out because those other tables all have poker-related names or something that comes from poker lore, that much I know after some googling and wikipedia overdose. That seems intentional. Maybe we should keep an eye on the Nuremberg table? If Kjartan's theory on Maurice is right, maybe Maurice'll make an appearance.

The week one trail seems to be a Tombstone Hol 'Em hand...
Spade, Heart, Club for "Opening Shots" (Flop?)
Club for "Kids These Days" (Turn?)
Club and Face of Club for "Looking for the Gun" (Pocket?)
Waiting for the river card, indicated by the coffee mug stain over the river.

Nice work, i didnt even think of that! Where does the Face of club come from though? and does a monolith count as a pointy gravestone (spade) or a statue (clubs)
Using death dates of people mention when scrolling over gravestones gives... (assuming the dealer isnt one of the people)
Provides a problem, cant use the end of the year, due to them all being 2005, so possibly using end of day of month as the value:
Opening shots:
Spade: Robert: Sept 21= Ace of Spades?
Heart:none
Club:Paco: Sept 20th= 10 of clubs?
Kids these days:
Club:Hikerd00d: Sept 21= Ace of clubs (or possible jack as two people are said to have died due to cell phone network)?
Looking for the gun:
Club: Unknown (possibly the person mentioned in the text on maurice's profile)
Club/spade: Victor (Corazon's boyfriend): date of death unknown.

The Face of Club is the little crypt with the crucifix on top.

I get that, but cant see much to suggest it's a face (except its cryptiness, but it could still be newish).

Re: [WILD SPEC] Random ideas On the subject of people as cards (and random speculation in general):
It has already been noted that "Corazon " means "heart."
"Trey" (the real name of omarhakim ) is a common poker term for a three.
Any others?

Does this count? "rojas" (as in Benito Rojas) means "red"

Isn't "rojo" red, not rojas? (I know this cuz I thought the same thing too, before hitting my own head with my own hand, then cursing my own self out. )

Rojo is red, and rojas would be the plural feminine version. As in the example, "oh my, look at those two queens which are rojas!"

Disconnected from above thread, but suited for Random Spec: Maurice Pikar's history.
A non-practicing Jew, he served in the Army with Lucky. When they liberated Buchenwald, he was shocked and appalled, and appointed himself as the executioner. Hence why his prisoners kept dying.
After the war, Pikar was one of the Nazi-chasers (like the recently-deceased Simon Weisenthal, albeit a more violent one).
Why he wants the gun, however, I can't speculate, unless the gun possesses some sort of supernatural power.

Simon's profile wrote:
Simon got up and got the tefillin. He came back and Maurice took them and carefully wrapped Simon's arm, seven times. "Baruch Atah Adonai, elohainu, melech haolam, asher kidshanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu l'haniach t'fillin."
Simon smiled. Maurice, so at home in the world, was as awkward as a child with prayers. He had come so late to observance. It was the one place where Simon was the teacher. It gave them both comfort.
He's not non-practicing anymore.
As far as the Gun...he says something about an "old debt." So it looks like it's somehow connected to his old war days with Lucky. I don't think it has supernatural powers.
