Heh, that's mine! I signed up last night and submitted the first meaningful-sounding truism I could think of.
Anyway, nice concept even if there's nothing more to it than meets the eye.

It's most likely not an ARG, and just a way to share your feelings with someone else (anonymously) and see what they think about it.

Well... I joined in the fun. I will admit, that whole starsky & hutch thing is a bit irksome, but generally this seems interesting. I submitted a semi-long winded insight - let's see what happens shall we?

Ok, so... it's really a shame that we are not able to respond to the responses to our insights. The person who responded to my insights {and I as well} wish we could have a conversation. My insight was about "alternate reality" vs "REAL reality".... If anyone here got it - let's chat!

Yay! Good to see this wasn't a complete red herring, even if not an ARG.
I'd like to point out that, as far as I know, this site was intended for people at one college campus. Let's hope they're prepared for the rush of insight and bandwidth coming from the ARG community.
Also, a bit of a scoop on the UT faux-ARG scene. This isn't the first "mysterious web site" that's been launched on the campus. There was also a church group that set up a web site to evangelize at people. Although it looked vaguley like an online game from the outside, the end was pretty moralistic and exclusionary and just plain mean. (If you really care to look, you can find it at http://www.youhaveaparttoplay.com ) The Tin Man may be sort of a protest to that site. Allowing everyone to share their insights anonymously seems like the direct opposite of yelling them down to me.
Although personally I hope the Tin Man "wakes up" someday. That would be pretty feckin cool.

ok, maybe i am dense, but can anyone explain the response to me?
Quote:
The need for escapism has grown so large that "VIRTUAL reality", which is based on the individual only THINKING things exsist on an individual basis, has mutated into "ALTERNATE reality" in which a group of individuals work as a collective and act out this invented reality to coincide with "real" reality. The question persists - what is reality if not the invention of the individual living it, and what makes one "real" and one "Alternate"?
there came:.
this Response:.
What you're talking about is "dreams." And I don't mean dreams in the sense of aspirations, but dreams in the sense of nightly adventures. While I agree that there are probably many things that are going on around us that we do not perceive, I am unsure that they would change our entire reality. But maybe they will. How can I judge? I am not that omniscient.

My take. I'll try to help, Pixiestix. The Response suggests that dreaming is a form of "virtual" or "alternate" reality experience. It goes on to tentatively posit that there is one fundamental and concrete reality, and that these dreams and adventures in "other" realities are definitely not to be confused with that real one. While your Insight seems rather unsure that there is an objective way to call a reality any more real than any other, the Response seems sure that there is. That's my take on it, anyway. Is that the only Response you got for that Insight at TinManMoves.net ?
