The NYC folks are still playing Hold 'Em, and the instructions say to wait until the winners are crowned, so we're waiting...

And make sure they know what a "pace" is this time. It's trickier than some folks think.

The NYC group has found the holster and is on their way. They have already found their first target, a person named Charon.

Re: [LIVE EVENT] NYC goings-on

The NYC group has Lucky's instructions. Only seven pages instead of twelve. Mr. Green As before, at the very end Lucky will direct them to a final person, whose last name will help unlock the new chapter.

Ok, I'll keep this updated with news from IRC.

Quote:
(15:43:27) SpaceBass: The game is over, and the winners were two very confused non-ARGers.
(15:45:22) SpaceBass: The winners apparently ditched the ARGers :(

(15:44:26) Shadow: imbri called: They're on their way, heading east; they know they're looking for a "cracked club reclining nearby" Via Dolorosa and Hill Street; and they'll call again once they get there.

(15:45:54) SpaceBass: They found a holster there.
(15:45:56) SpaceBass: with instructions

(15:46:16) Shadow: "a man who might want you to pay a toll before passing through his gate." heading south
(15:46:26) Shadow: 15 paces
(15:46:12) SpaceBass: rose wasn't with the group
(15:46:51) SpaceBass: they found charon

(15:47:58) Shadow: now going east to look for a celtic cross with the name "William"
(15:48:15) SpaceBass: it's really confused
(15:49:15) Shadow: They found the cross

(15:49:23) SpaceBass: he was 57...head that many paces north. find scandalous stone, it has some secret.

(15:51:18) SpaceBass: and they're still confused about how big a pace is ;)

(15:55:09) Shadow: the "scandalous stone" descriptor may not be related to the names on the stone, because they already HAVE the names, John and Amelia.
(15:56:17) Shadow: They have found a sunken stone with the name John, but no nearby Amelia (and nothing that looks scandalous)

(15:58:21) Shadow: (on recording data for a cipher or something else) the PMs seem to have given up on the "recording stuff as we go" procedure, since it didn't work two weeks in a row. Last week WE needed only the last name. The instructions imply the same for this week.

(15:58:51) KradDrol: (The actual instructions) Head 57 paces north to the sinking stone. You'll know when you've found it when you find John S. and Mary Amelia's little secret
(16:00:08) Shadow: THEY GOT IT
(16:00:15) Shadow: INCEST. yike
(16:00:30) Shadow: They were cousins

(16:02:50) KradDrol: what's the next clue?
(16:03:04) Shadow: Haven't heard yet. Something about a poniting tree?

(16:03:59) Shadow: "And now the cruelty of the Puppet Master is revealed...we have to walk back down the hill."

(16:04:12) SpaceBass: they have to walk up the hill, find a pointing tree, then walk back down to find an irish man something something

(16:04:24) Shadow: They found it
(16:04:51) Shadow: 93-26=67

(16:05:33) Shadow: King of Spades (which would be four or more people with one pointy stone, yes?)
(16:06:02) Shadow: "King of Spades shaded by a tree"
(16:08:37) SpaceBass: they need the date his youngest daughter was born or something
(16:08:52) SpaceBass: or died
(16:09:32) SpaceBass: the found it

(16:09:40) G3K: POPUP
(16:09:47) Azure: Nearly time for the real LAST CALL

(16:10:20) SpaceBass: a holy man blessing the sky
(16:10:24) SpaceBass: 12 paces away
(16:10:49) KradDrol: heard them say there it is
(16:10:54) KradDrol: think they found it
(16:11:26) SpaceBass: walk in the direction the holy man gazes
(16:11:29) SpaceBass: but they didn't find the right one
(16:12:08) Shadow: looking for a man with a last name like his final resting place (Graves?), who died in 1879
(16:12:15) SpaceBass: the one they found wasn't really looking anywhere apparetnly
(16:14:47) Shadow: They're not looking for Mr. Graves. They've gone back to trying to find the right holy man
(16:16:25) Shadow: THey got it
(16:16:27) Shadow: It was Coffin

(16:17:27) Shadow: Connection lost! :( :( :(
(16:17:48) SpaceBass: they're on the last one
(16:18:06) SpaceBass: a native new yorker who died far from home at the age of 26
(16:18:37) SpaceBass: i think i just lost my connection too
(16:18:49) SpaceBass: DEAD ZONE INNA CEMETERY

(16:19:29) Shadow: They found Harry Cox
(16:19:39) Shadow: Has nothing to do with the puzzle. It just makes them all giggle.

(16:20:56) Shadow: Not only is imbri's radio digital, but it can record. yay!
(16:21:05) Shadow: "Oh, but I should probably change the battery, though..." :banghead:
(16:21:52) Shadow: They're looking for "a Native New Yorker who died far away from home at the age of 26." He's the final offering (NOT the name that unlocks our cards)
SpaceBass trouts Shad0
(16:24:06) SpaceBass: they found it
(16:25:38) Shadow: They're paying respects.

(16:26:53) Shadow: After they make the offering and get Lucky's signal, they'll look for one last name, and we need that last name and "his favorite poker hand" to unlock the cards.

pop-up: last call
LCP site is down

(16:30:53) Shadow: Sin_Vraal They are looking for one final name. That person's last name and his favorite poker hand are supposed to unlock the first new card. (Not until the site's back up, obviously.)
(16:31:15) Shadow: Lucky: "Battle of the Little Big Horn"
(16:31:23) Shadow: "...who killed Jeb Stuart..."
(16:31:36) Shadow: 1876
(16:31:55) Shadow: "...Greatest Empires of the Old West battling..."
(16:32:03) Shadow: "You're about to meet the star of GUN"
(16:32:26) Shadow: Now they're looking for the last name
(16:33:22) Shadow: imbri got Lucky's message recorded, it'll be up later tonight "depending on how sober or not sober I am" :D
(16:33:34) krystyn: Yeah, we'll hear it MONDAY
(16:34:23) Shadow: still looking
(16:34:33) Shadow: searching for the "kneeling woman"
(16:34:44) Shadow: "I'm so tired of this hill!" :D

(16:35:16) KradDrol: sites up

From the wikipedia:
Pace, a unit of length equal to 3 feet; defined as 91.44 centimeters; originally taken to be the average length of a stride.

the radio broadcast from NYC can be downloaded from http://www.argitect.com/lastcallpoker/files/luckymsgNYC.mp3

There's a bunch of dead time at the end that I don't have the time/energy to delete right now. Perhaps later.
