Simple ROT...

To unravel me
You need a simple key,
No key that was made

But a key that only I

I suspected that the Shinpu text from the London folder rather belongs here and wanted to try Shinpu as Vignere key...

Ok. Great. Nice story. And now what? Confused
That reminds me of twofish.html in the Paris folder. Wondered about the page name.

From the Wikipedia entry on Ofuda (not "of uda", y2kbozo although definitely not the first thing one would have thought of!)

The ofuda, gofu or shinpu are traditional Shinto religion items, used for protection from or banishing and sealing away evil spirits. They are most often slips of paper with mystical kanji brushed on their surface in the ancient style. An alternate and more common spelling is O-fuda.

This definitely jives with earlier references to mythological or mystical spirits... in S. Africa and in Japan (don't know where those particular posts were made...)

(edit)
Also - this is pretty significant, I didn't recognize the word "shinpu" at first, but that is the name of a man Anne has mentioned in her Livejournal (link). Excerpt:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"I think that this other guy, who goes by the name of Shinpu (I don't really think this is his real name... but I have heard stranger names than that before), is the owner of the bar that we hang out at, but when I asked him, he just shrugged and sipped his cup of coffee."

Maybe this is a sign that Shinpu will protect Anne from evil spirits....? Confused

The encoded text from the Tokyo page

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
<!-- The Fire Keepers Must Be Stopped. -->

Is a reference to a myth/story/parable told by Anne in the point_system livejournal (link), titled "Keepers of the Fire".

<spec>It seems that Vaporlofts would want to undo the balance of the universe that is described in the story.</spec>

Yes, I think we all still remember a Shinpu mentioned in Anne's journal and maybe you are right, it's a metaphoric story to tell us that he will be Anne's savior/protector/guide/whatever.

The Fire Keepers reference seems to be another story which becomes more and more reality. I just wonder why those comments are on the VaporLofts sites. Somebody hacking them? Perhaps ghosts? Laughing
