Well its not exactly the hardest puzzle ever concieved... this was speculated to be the pattern since the day it was announced.

It was likely a guess though, since nothing officially on the "cards" has corroberated this.

code

well- I think enaxor was referring to the pattern used to solve the code that Lucky used to send a message to Lucy today.

I remembered there was a similar code used in the game Urban Hunt. When I tried it on the cards linked in Lucy's profile, it worked, with the message being "Maurice is all in."

If you use the rules that rank the suits as well as the hands, then the ranking from top to bottom goes:

Diamonds
Spades
Hearts
Clubs

A Royal flush in diamonds would beat a royal flush in spades.

could someone put the complete solve on the wiki? the puzzle section is still empty. i know this was a simple puzzle, and we got the "key" from "Dead Make-up" but its a little confusing for newcomers

Any transcripts from last night's tourney? any hidden messages in the cards?

edit: did it myself Smile

In poker this is usually not the case. See Ranking of Poker Hands where it says "As all suits are equal, all royal flushes are equal. " This has been the case in LCP games with tieing hands, there was no accounting for suits.

In bridge the suits do count, and there they use the only ording I have ever seen in many years of card playing. It is different from what you list. See Standard American Bidding where they list (top to bottom):
Spades
Hearts
Diamonds
Clubs

I am not familiar with a game where your odering is used.

I have played with poker players who DO use the suits and they have always used the bridge rankings.

^shrug^ Mea culpa.

As long as it worked for Enaxor's solve, that's all that really matters here.
