Tried to get a pack at two different EB Games stores here in Winnipeg. No luck -- neither store had the cards. Hell, only one of the stores was even pre-selling Gun. Has this been the case for any other Canadians out there?

Jamesi: yes.. I can't get GUN pre-ordered at my local EB either (St. John's, NL).. and they had never even heard of the cards when I asked them about that specifically. (I may have got one of the clerks interested in ARGs though )

Yep. This is what has brought back the phun for me. I really hadn't latched on to this game much in the beginning. Lots of story, even a little too much all at once for me (during a really busy week which was probably 1/2 the problem). Then the phone call was cool, but just a recording and all I had to do to get it was to type in my phone # online. Still hadn't hooked me.
Then ... I have to get out and do something. I got both the guys at my EB excited about the game, plus I got some sort of a reward for my efforts. The joy was back. Reward for something that I actually had to do myself.
I guess it takes all sorts to play an ARG. puzzlers, story lovers, and (fortunately for me) social engineers.

And once again - beware of open decks! My EB Games offered me one w/o cellophane and of course it had no jokers (bad employee!! - I mean the guy who snarfed the cards), but I checked on the spot and was given a replacement (their last deck, don't try the Pentagon City store right now...)

the guy at my store wanted to give me an open box already and i asked him for some sealed one. and he immediatley knew i was after the mark.
i was wondering did i just get a bad deck or do other people have cards torn inside their decks? i mean it was odd for me to open it up and find 2 or 4 cards with almost perfect tears, in a sealed case. my just be a coincidence but i figured id ask anyway.

I picked up my cards today and all of mine were intact. Perhaps you got a "special" deck.

I scored a pair of decks myself (one was from someone who really didn't care about the ARG, no matter how much I tried to convince him). My mark's up, and I'm seriously thinking about awarding the spare deck to whoever wins the tournament in SF's Live Event.
I also checked with EB's corp office. Unfortunately the person I spoke with didn't say much, seemingly out of general ignorance.

I had a similar response from my local Australian EB store. The sales assistant had never heard of GUN, and couldn't even find it on the computer. He did say that they often get things like playing cards as pre-order bonuses. So, I might have more luck in a couple of weeks time.

Konashark went looking around the web for information on the game from the platform & video game players perspective. Funny reading about kids getting the deck on preorder and thinking maybe the code was for special unlocks in the game itself. Then further down the page someone tells them about LCP.
Shame about all those wasted codes.

I'm posting from this crazy loft off of Diversion, or Division street in Chicago, and I was rining in to say that I found a few discrepencies in my card deck.
The first I noticed was that a few cards had a distinct difference in shading colors. maybe just a print mismatch thing, maybe not. Someone go hold up the nine and seven of diamonds and tell me if they seem a bit *darker* then the other diamonds, just the pictures. It's really noticable on the brims of the hats.
Another one is that my Queen indian has a blue dot over his chest, probably just a misprint problem too, but I figure it might be cool to check out.
Oh, and does everyone's deck have a sample "10" of every suit on the back flap? I'll be AFC till monday, seeya guys later!

Reserved at two stores (Gamestop and EB) and neither had the packs, well at least now I can choose between the GC and PS2 versions when the time comes. Anyone mind hooking me up with a mark?

Just an update with some good news for international players, especially in Australia. I happened to be walking past a different EB store today, and decided to enquire about the GUN playing cards. The man I spoke to didn't think he had seen any playing cards, and seemed surprised that I should know what the pre-order bonus would be since there was no promotional material in the store. He looked up the computer and a special note flashed up on the screen saying to give out one packet of themed playing cards with each pre-order while stocks last.
He checked out the back (I think he may have been the manager) and told me that the cards hadn't arrived yet, but that I should check back soon.
