I did try numerous variants on Paine, Burke, Agrippa, Stirling, LaFayette, Islington, The Key, Sunday, and quite a few others, using the gematria code found by Mountain Girl.
I'm pretty much done poking at this thing.
Law, I just know you're right about us smacking our foreheads when we do come on the key.
I love a good puzzle, but we've got so much baggage, the number of possible permutations is just too daunting.

Lately it occurs to me..... What a long, strange trip it's been.

Law, here are links to the photos I took in Angel Square. As I said, they're pretty kak examples of photography, but nonetheless. I unfortunately didn't think to take one of the plaque at the base of the West face.

*lol* - that is just so cool - to see pictures from a place we've been talking about taken by someone who has actually been there in real life. Imagine if we end up having been around the world in this way Very Happy

Onto the keyword. Nothing at the moment, but I agree with Law that it's going to be something so obvious that we're going to kick ourselves for not seeing it sooner.

As for the key page that some of you saw, but which has since been removed. Would one of you be really sweet and give a description of what it said, please? - Just in case some of it might help spark someone's imagination Smile

Oh, and I know this is so far out that it's not going to pay off, but I was just wondering. Have any of you, who've signed up for this "game" (yeah, I know I probably should too Embarassed - just that I'm not too comfortable with all the info required), tried the password you gave?

PS Re: the origin of thekey.jpg image. I'm now sure it's exactly the same key on the monument (the colours and shading are just the same), but the perspective is different and I'm wondering if Iz could have photoshopped it to look this way, or if he's been to Angel Square himself and taken a picture in person...

The key has just been cut from the picture of the monument. I know the perspective looks a little different, but if you run it through some kind of photo editor and just cut out the key, you get the en face picture of the key even though you seem to look at it sort of sideways on the monument picture

Greyling - re: the html page

It was only up for about 45 minutes as 'thekey.html' as opposed to 'thekey.php' and then it vanished again, suggesting that Iz is watching us here.

Differences we noticed:

1. the 1790pm was replaced with 6:30pm, suggesting it _is_ a time after all

2. the Japanese characters were replaced with '???'

3. the 'keyword correct' phrase was on this page, instead of the Paine page.

4. The following words flashed up as 'thekey.jpg' image loaded: 'dates are not my strong point... Ix', suggesting that Ix got the whole 1790/1970 thing wrong.

5. Jackalope identified a line in the PHP script that said: 'if($keyword!="thekey"){ ', suggesting that the keyword was (at some point) "thekey'), not that this works now...

Hope this helps

Law of Five

I have an idea. Try rot-13 ing the word thekey (all one word) and entering that. also see if the key on the monument has any particular name. if not just send thatdeaddude over to the monument sunday at 630.

Also i'm not going to be on today i'm grounded Rolling Eyes

*is currently resisting the urge to do something bad*

edit: also what is the angel monument for and what does the key represent? is it something that was lost and found?
