Well, at this point I'd put my cell number, theres no easy way to trace it back to me, as it's not in my name, and they are on a whole other continent, why steal my identity/prank call me when there are plenty of local victims? lol. And I don't want to flyer all of london, just one or two key areas. And I think TDD said that it wasn't quite like a public library, more of an archiving place, so I bet the ppl that go there are people who go there every now and then, and besides, anything's worth a shot. If you want, we could just sit here and talk about the "book that got away" for years to come and never actually look. With every passing day the chance of success may be getting smaller. Feel free to submit other ideas while shooting other ones down. Any one can just disagree with someone, but a think will offer a better solution if the one presented wasn't productive enough

sorry I don't mean to be such a pessimist
I did have one idea but I think its rather a long shot (see - pessimist again!). I was looking at Yann's scribe page and I wondered if there is a Terry Pratchet book that somehow involves a tree or trees, and if we could find that book in the British library... and if it has a note or something hidden in it?
But, I don't think the people who go there go every now and then - 16,000 people go there per day! So if there is/was a note or anything, anyone could find it and remove it.
I dunno, I'm confused and I just wish we had some more concrete clues to go on!
<edit> I dunno if this is useful or has already been found (feel free to trout me), but I found a 'book zero' at the British Library... http://catalogue.bl.uk/F/L42DHC92FGK6T3B5KBN84VVGIU83SF1T4VDRRISTNRU5CUNCX2-00223?func=full-set-set&set_number=095304&set_entry=000001&format=999

also, someone mightve mentioned this before, but paperbacks are more often than not kept on a book "tree"

Does anyone remember someone's scribe page (I think it was Jackalope's) had an image of a computer with writing going across the screen? Maybe that was a BBC Micro???

On a hunch (old clues, hand written Islington stuff) I called the Monkey Cafe at 13 Castle St. Swansea.
Mountain Girl: Hi, I'm wondering if you have a lost and found?
Manager: Yes we do.
Mountain Girl: Could you check and see if a book has been left and stashed there?
Manager: Sure, what does it look like?
Mountain Girl: Well, it has a red cover and??
Manager: So it's like a journal then?
Mountain Girl: EXACTLY.. There's drawings and hand written text inside.
Manager: Hold on let me see.
Manager: No, nothing like that here. When was it left?
Mountain Girl: Could have been this weekend, possibly Monday, though.
Manager: Hmm. It's quite possible another manager or employee has it. Perhaps trying to keep it safe, you know?
Mountain Girl: Would you ask or leave a note? I can give you my email address if you find it.
Manager: Of course. Give me the address:
Mountain Girl: (Give email)
Manager: Hopefully we'll find it.
I don't know if this is a lead or not, but it was certainly interesting.
