I was at work today, and thought of something. The /Sortails.html page says buy the next installment at the secret location blah blah.... how can this be in the sky? I mean, dropping CD-ROMs from a plane or balloon might be an effective weapon of Receda-esque death, but I doubt anyone'd be able to buy them
Thanks,
Loric

OK, it's 3.45am and I'm a tad wasted. However, I'm going to post anyways. Don't tell my mum though.
I will be at the wetherspoons near oxford street station at 1.30pm (it's the only place in manchester I'm really sure I know where it is [and they sell beer]), anybody who want's to go a cube hunting can meet me there. I sorta look like a fat harry potter, but i'm gonna be sat near a window with someone else and I'll more than likely be looking rather dodgy, so I'm sure you can find me. I'll wait there till 2 or they throw me out, whichever comes first. I've updated my profile with my MSN if anyone wants to contact me when I'm online or send me an e-mail (to the same address) - I'll send u my mobile number.
I'm totally 100% convinced (in my less than lucid drunken state) that it's going to be something in the sky, but I'll get all the maps together for the dodgy shop and the tower. At 2, we'll have a wander around and see if anything exciting happens. if not, we'll wander round to the car park round the corner and find my car and go a hunting round the tower and the dodgy shop. I promise I'm not a phycopath and I'm not going to kill you, but if you're a girl, I might think about your breasts a bit. By all means, give me a slap and remind me of my morality. Oh, and I like Sheryl Crow, so if you get in my car, you'll have to listen to her. Sorry in advance.
Does that sound like a plan??
EDIT: I'm taking my digital camera, my laptop and the cable. I also have a penchant for Starbucks, so we can nip for a coffee and log on to talk to you on IRC if needs be. Hopefully we will be able to post our findings as we find them

Loric: If it is in the sky, I'm guessing Mind Candy will post the website where we can play the next episode and you'll have to pay a small fee to take control of the character via PayPal or something. That, or there will be Mind Candy representatives running around Manchester charging everyone who looks up.
Josiah: A word of advice. If you do plan on driving around in your car listening to Sheryl Crow while looking for messages in the sky, try to take it easy with the beer beforehand. Judging from your post, you're probably not the most....how should I put this...coordinated drunk driver.
Now there's a Receda's Revenge-esque death if I ever heard one: "You foolishly decide to get into Fat Harry Potter's death-mobile. While looking in the sky for messages from a parallel universe's distant past, FHP crashes into a solar skyscraper, weakening the structure so that it falls onto the doomed vehicle. As your life slips away, the last thing you hear in life is the music of Sheryl Crow."

Alternatively if one of you has a wireless laptop or PDA, you can sign in on site ( I'm sure there's plenty of unsecured wireless connections in Manchester, there's loads of them in London and some even allow router access!!!! ) and post updates as and when they happen.
I won't be there, but if anyone has a Treo (or other Palm PDA that can access the internet), I would highly recommend something like <a href="http://www.smittyware.com/palm/upirc/">upIRC</a> to communicate while out and about.
jmIrc for Java-enabled phones is good too.

That's BRILLIANT.

A good friend of mine has just pointed something out to me about the CIS tower in manchester -
He was looking at pics of the CIS tower (specifically http://www.aidan.co.uk/photo3825.htm )
which is a pic of the 'Manchester CIS Building Urbis Centre'
The thing he pointed out is that 'Urbis' is the latin for 'Town' - maybe that gives us the TOWN part of the scrolls clue?
EDIT : the URBIS centre has a website : http://www.urbis.org.uk/

and for what its worth
Your visit to Urbis begins with a one minute sky glide in the MEN Glass Elevator

Actually, the CIS Tower is the tall skyscraper-y building in the back, and the Urbis Centre is the triangular glass building in the middle foreground of the picture.
Is there a way for us to have people at each place?

I've been browsing these forums now for a few weeks and not got round to registering.
I am gutted now as i've been waiting for a real-life event near me (I live about 20 miles west of Manchester) and now there is 1 i can't make it!
I had surgery on tuesday and so I cant't attend on sunday, I would just like to wish all those attending the best of luck and I hope you find what we're supposed to find.

Hope you recover soon Sentinel, I too am waiting for a live event that I can attend thats near me, fingers crossed!!
It might be a good idea for all the 'ground crew' to exchange details like mobile numbers, etc, and then just nominate one person to act as the main contact between the ground and us the support team, like it's been done for other ARGs.

I would say the most likely place for this event to happen is the Urbis museum. I've been there many times and this kind of thing is right up their street.

while i'm not sure anything would happen in the building, i agree, it is a very cool place and i would put forward a suggestion that we could meet in the gardens by the side of it (cathedral gardens, so called as they are also next to the cathedral) which is also fairly near the CIS building should the need arise to go there. anyone need directions, pm me

I'd like to suggest that everybody not be inside a building at the same time, in case a plane does fly overhead, with a banner. Also, if you go up the glass elevator, search around outside, as you go up. There might be a clue on the roof of a building... ?
