I really don't think telling Violet or Kurt would be the best idea right now. They're on the verge of a huge breakthrough with the whole book fiasco. The last thing we want is for either of them to go running off into the woods to find Scarlett right now. Besides, If Scarlett is in danger, there's no way they're going to get to her in time (it's a 2.5 day hike after the train ride out there).

Good job to those who predicted Allain and the old man were the same person!

So I guess the next question is, are old Allain and new Allain the same physical person. I.e. Does the single instance of Allain change shape, or are there 2 versions of him?
I'm not convinced that telling any of our other contacts would be a good idea.
As talos has said, we have no idea whether she is in a real hospital or not. If its a real place, then the likelihood is that either the hospital or one of her friends will contact Sente. I know put in their shoes the first thing I would do would be to tell the injured persons parents.
However, if its not a real hospital, then we run the risk of
- Turning one of our contacts against us (we were the ones who encouraged her to go)
- Revealing to our sources the extent of our involvement with other sources
- Getting Violet Kurt et. al into the same danger as Scarlett. The name Viendenbourg has a nasty habit of putting those who have heard it in danger. Do we want to send Kurt and/or Violet out to the same fate?
So, I think we should just sit on this until we have a bit more information. What would we tell them anyway?

Agree completely on the "keeping this quiet" angle - Scarlett does not appear to be in any immediate peril *now* - if she was being held captive or being pumped for information, her captors are unlikely to allow her access to her key.
As has been said previously, we've rushed with information from one Perplexian to another twice now, the first time we were scolded, and the second we (potentially) got Monica killed. Beginning to think that, perhaps, third time isn't likely to be the charm.

A tiny note written in pencil but definitely in Pietro Salk's handwriting. On the back of the file folder, just by the metal hanging rod. It said this:
Reynolds ionizers. Viendenbourg.
Kurt does a search for Reynolds Ionizers and get's a Military trace on his key. Sente says to stop worrying and not to deal with what ever invoked it.
Scarlet get's possibly captured in Viendenbourg. I'm thinking if these two items are connected with the theft/³ then I'm wondering how much sente really knows...
Maybe a random note to someone asking them how scarlet enjoyed her vacation<?> say we hadn't heard from her, but blah blah supterfuge...

Actually, to be accurate, the third (?) time I emailed Violet and it saved Sylvia's life.
I'm not going to contact her until I've heard back from Scarlett; however, I do tend to play this game slightly with a more TINAG outlook than many The danger here isn't that she'll be physically hurt, but the possibility that her mind will continue to fragment or her memory degenerate.
I don't *necessarily* think that Allain hurt Scarlett - more likely that he needs her help. The old man version sat in the library every day weeping over whatever happened (here at Viendenbourg?) I agree that Viendenbourg probably has its own protective defenses.
Don't worry, I'm going to sit and wait...

Cassandra: I see what you're saying, but I still don't think that sending Violet and Kurt to Viendenbourg would help any. How do we know that they'll be able to protect themselves from whatever is affecting Scarlett? The last thing we want to do is kill off/erase the memories of our three main contacts in Perplex City. Better for Scarlett to suffer alone then to send all three of them to their doom.
I play with more of a statistical point of view. One casualty sounds a lot better then three. Besides, I'm holding out for the possibility that one of Scarlett's friends will come to her rescue. I think Brede has some sort of obligation to save her, him being the boyfriend and all. Unless he's dead. Then he doesn't have anymore obligations.
EDIT: Also, I was wondering if anyone else was considering the possibility that Allain is the old man's son or some other kind of relative. Might explain the resemblance she saw.

Silly topic - it might have been mentioned.
What are the odds that some kind of neural-weapon was used on Scarlett and that it's slowly degenerating her brain?

Perhaps Perplex City IS the mysterious LOST ARG that so many people have been talking about. (Written from a UK viewer's knowledge, so don't spoil it yanks!) Here are some points:
We don't know what the island looks like
People have suspect pasts
There is wierd technology that people are unwilling to talk about
The data stream/repeated message keeps on growing
There are no horribly disfigured people yet
So a LOST ARG, not so unlikely now is it?

LMAO! I thought I was the only one who was (thinking of) LOST!
At least 333 is easier to remember than 4 8 15 16 23 42!

All we need now is a crazy french woman, a 'beast' and we're sorted.

Well the beast could be the sock puppet and the french woman could be V.

Gah! I'm getting scared about reading this thread now! I'm only just catching up on the first season of Lost, and I'm about 14 episodes in! Nothing's been spoiled for me so far, but I'm getting very nervous reading this thread. If you feel the need to mention something very recent, could you use
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Spoilers? Pretty please?
Thanks!
That out of the way, I thought of Lost, too. Weird. But I discounted it since, oddly, it was an Australian flight... filled with... mostly Americans. Not many British/Perplexian accents to be found!
But I'd dig a Lost ARG.
