weephun and I managed to get all four done tonight.

Well, actually...we forgot to get the picture of Vic's request for me, so I need to go back to the cemetery and find it, because it was a pretty good blessing. Howard H. Langworthy became "Ward Held Worthy."

Had a total blast, though!

Robert Brown's. The Cross headstone was broken in three places and was all laying in a heap. Sad, really.

Kink Coover's. Samuel K. Goldtrap becomes "Lame Krust Daldog," which sounds mighty cursish to me.

Me? Breaking and entering at a cemetery? NEVER!

Paco Cisneros'. Regardless of the legal implications, I'm sure it was nice to have company.

So yeah, going back either tomorrow or sometime later this week to get my blessing; hopefully I'll be able to find the headstone. Had a heck of a lot of fun on this little outing, though Very Happy

I volunteer to take Vic's hat around Palm Beach County. If there are a few other People in the South Florida area maybe we could carpool down to Key West and take a picture of it at Daddy Hemmingway's house. With a six toed cat.

Hey vic said around the world, not around the states. :p

Was wondering the same thing. I'm gunna have to write down a bunch of names of graves and type them into the anagram finder as it is. I sure as hell ain't smart enough to do it in my head. Heh

Na-uh! How geeky do you think we are?!

I chose the first 10 tombstones I saw and took a snapshot of them, then went back home and used the wordsmith.org anagram service.

*sigh of relief* At least I won't be the only one doing that. Though, seriously, you're on unfiction. "How geeky do you think we are?" VERY. Hee.

I try to draw out an insulting (or blessing) word, then dump the rest into an anagram finder. Sort of a 50/50 deal, and speeds things up a bit.

I am working the opposite way, figuring out which grave and the anagram first. I am trying to find a good Robertson one - so I can use for a blessing and already have SON and ROBERT .

Example: tomorrow I am going to Grant's tomb. (given the JEB Stuart connection I thought that would be ironic.)

it turns out that Ulysess S. Grant anagrams to TRY SUNGLASSES.

Which I am going to use as a curse, taunting Kink for being in Hell. Smile

Daldog SOUNDS insulting, Krust TOTALLY COUNTS.

About Robetson - I had the blessing wrong. The blessing is for Victor Simko Aldredge. For Robert we need to clean up a lonely grave.

Bachelor's Grove

Quote:
Lucky,

We weren't so smart the first time Mathboy (I mean, FourDSwissCheese) & I
traveled down south of the city proper. We fell prey to the same mistake many
amateur gravehunters do with Bachelor's Grove - we went to the woods, not to
the actual cemetery location, which was about a half mile away, in a different
section of the forest preserves in the area.

We went this morning and found it, though, armed with plenty of tips and
suggestions from websites. Sunshine flooded the area, and the clouds were,
high, white, and fluffy. I fully expected the cemetery to be depressing and
frustrating. Reading about the vandalism that's plagued the place since the
70's, I was prepared for the worst.

I'll be honest: the place was definitely run down. The stones are all moved or
broken or changed in some way (except our pal Fulton), but the overwhelming
sense I got was just ... loneliness. Tired loneliness, tinged with some sad.

So, we walked the path you instructed. Starting at the dramatically white
tree, we found one of two Mosses. This was the one a few paces north, though,
so we knew we were on the right track. And then, in the distance, easily
spotted, the large and impossible-to-move Fulton monument. Thanks to you, I've
had a song stuck in my head for the past two days, which goes, in part:

They all laughed at Whitney and his cotton gin
They all laughed Fulton and his steamboat
Hershey and his chocolate bar
Ford and his Lizzie
Kept the laughers busy
That's how people are
They laughed at me wanting you
Said it would be, Hello, Goodbye.
But oh, you came through
Now they're eating humble pie
They all said we'd never get together
Darling, let's take a bow
For ho, ho, ho!
Who's got the last laugh?
Hee, hee, hee!
Let's at the past laugh
Ha, ha, ha!
Who's got the last laugh now?

Damn you, high school show choir!!

And then, to a small dip in the ground, covered over in broken tree trunk and
branches, the most recent burial of Mr. Shields. It was then a simple matter
to cross back south, nearly to the gate again to see the distinctive checkered
monument base.

FourD and I conferred for several minutes on the shape we walked. We would
like to tell you that we made a 4 - the kind of four with a closed top to it.
Now, your instructions did *not* indicate that we were to connect the last to
the first, only the first to the last, but if you had asked such a thing, I
suppose we would have walked a rather angular hourglass.

Attached, please find both me and FourDSwissCheese at the checkered stone.

We also honored your Robert, in our own ways. Expect more images soon from the
both of us regarding that.

My warmest regards to those have passed and deserve our respect.

All the best to you!

Sincerely,

Krystyn (and FourDSwissCheese)

blessing for victor

Lucky,

"I'd charm roses" for Victor, since he charmed us with his love for his hat.

Enclosed, please find a photo of the stone for one Richard E. Moss, lately of
