And here I was all excited that I was going to break something new!

It seems to be the same encryption as the strings found on floor1c.jpg and 1008.html. Like I've said before, given the text found on Twofish.html (see this thread), I'm guessing it's encrypted using a RipeMD hash and Twofish encryption in CFB8bit mode, which requires a key (password) to decrypt. The only program - ClipSecure - I can find to decrypt that won't decrypt any of those with any key that I've tried. Then again, it won't even decrypt text encrypted using Twofish from another program, so I don't know how much I can trust it. I've emailed the author of ClipSecure with some questions and will post a reply when I get them.

I could be totally 100% wrong and if anyone else has any ideas about decrypting this stuff, please post here. I'm no expert in cryptography, I've just researched it a little. So by all means, please contradict me if you have another idea!

you deciphered the mail when you deciphered the johannesburg/nodes.html Smile

I haven't verified every single letter, but the mail they sent you is in my opinion exactly the same that was found in the nodes.html. Except for the special-tag in the end.

By the way, did anybody get any living sign from Anne? She wanted to stay in Atlanta just for a few days. I haven't heard from here since she left.

My money is on Anne being dead or kidnapped/captured by the Vaporlofts people. Silly girl never should have gone to Atlanta by herself. I wouldnt be surprised if we heard from the mole about her fate soon.

Whoa! Good catch, PatRol! Two - two - two solves in one! I feel like a doublemint twin!

For the record (in this thread): The email text appeared at http://www.vaporlofts.com/johannesburg/nodes.html this morning. See this thread for details.

The "Special" tag at the end of the email won't decrypt using the same method as the rest of the email. If I try to decrypt the whole email at once, it just comes out the same as nodes.html. If I try to just decrypt "CGGnhfftMUEUDXZ", I get an error. I'll try to keep working on it.

I don't know if the email puzzle is solved in total?! Since i didn't get any emails back wether from vapor nor from Anne I cannot say for sure, but for the email-puzzle I feel like missing a bit. What about the included SPECIAL-tag?

I have not been able to make anything of the SPECIAL tag at the end of the email. So I guess the answer is, the email is mostly - but not 100% - solved.

I wouldn't feel too bad about not getting emails... it's not the most comforting thing to receive email from a company that is experimenting on humans with the supernatural... Wink
