In an attempt to make myself more useful, (and enrich our minds) I'm going to do a little legwork of my own; (working with what we have been given) because our job is to analyze all possible angles and come to a conclusion.

On Xanadu itself: A real city, and city of myth. Comparable to the legendary utopias of Atlantis, Shangri-La, Eden, the Fortunate Isles, and El Dorado.
The Real Xanadu
Writings on the Mythical Xanadu (A very interesting read)
Other Xanadu References

On Samuel Taylor Coleridge:
Biography 1
Biography 2
Kubla Kahn Poem
Kubla Kahn Poem Analysis

On County Hall (Route 341)
The County Hall Gallery
Bus Route 341 Stops
Bus Stop Map & Destinations (This is a .pdf file - See Key at bottom for the destinations and routes they're on)

(Keep an eye on this post for more info. I plan on editing it as I find information.)

Great work Withe

Just my 2 cts on it:

The county hall Gallery has the following piece of art form salvador dali:

Dance of time
Alice in wonderland
Quote:
Alice in Wonderland
Alice is one of Dalí's favourite images. He was drawn to the innocence of this eternal child who re-emerges into reality unchanged by her surrealistic experience in the looking-glass world.

Horse saddled with time

Next to that there is a statue with the name "profile of time"

Description:
Profile of Time
Quote:
The melting clock – perhaps the most recognised Dalínian symbol – stems from a dream of runny Camembert one hot August afternoon. Here the clock takes on a human profile as it drips over the branches, underlying man's ambiguous relationship with time.

symbolism in Dali's work:

Quote:
Melting clocks
The famous melting clocks represent the omnipresence of time, and identify its mastery over human beings. The inspiration for this concept came from a dream of runny Camembert one hot august afternoon. These symbols represent a metaphysical image of time devouring itself and everything else.

all the quotes come from the galleries website

greetz,

Draghkar

To me, if this does turn out to be a valid trail to follow, it makes perfect sense:

Surrealism actually started out as a philosophical literary movement, and then revolved to include art to explain and explore the visual concept.

By nature, Surrealists explore to liberate and unlock the unconscious mind throughout their imagery. Visual manifestations of the true human potential locked within our own brains. A lot of Surrealist works of art actually confront the things we, as humans, are believed to be unable to control, in effect, harnessing our true potential.

Not only that, but Surrealists believed that coincidences proved that reality was not in any logical order, because if it were; there would be no such thing as coincidence, or even deja vu for that matter--because reality would move in a straight line (no coincidences), but is instead curved (thus we have coincidences).

Dali's exploration on the effects and manifestations of time would definitely make sense if this proves to be a valid path.

just a little mind diversion..

Is dali somehow associated with juggling? or jugglers?

I mean how many ppl are not able to juggle and have the thoughts of it that they cannot until they actually try and unlock their capabilities?

reading your post jumped me that way..

Greetz,

D.

and to answer part of my question (hopefully)

I found a book that is "juggling with numbers" and has a reference to dali as well.. might be far fetyched, but who knows:

http://www.yalereviewofbooks.com/archive/winter03/review03.shtml.htm

EDIT
and as far the link dali and xanadoo goes:
There is this place called xanadu online that sells dali stuff:
http://www.xanaduonline.com/SALVADOR-DALI--LES-MONTRES--Posters--0107-1-0279V-buy-merchandise.php

EDIT 2
Also found a reference to Beauty and the beast:
Quote:
The Beast's dwelling is one of the strangest ever put on film--Xanadu crossed with Dali.

For the full link: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19991226/REVIEWS08/912260301/1023&template=printart (slow)

The entire article reeks like dali and he is then also reference several times within it..

EDIT 3
and then of course i found a reference to a bookstore in amsterdam which has a rather curious name that sells things from dali, but also orwel's book road to xanadu:
http://www.antiqbook.nl/boox/joo/books3000.shtml

very far fetched, but I know that a bookstore with that name might have had some influence with ix.

Greetz,

D.

Salvador Dali:

Quote:
"I tried [censor bar goes here Laughing ]once with a woman and that woman was Gala. It was overrated. I tried [censor bar goes here Laughing ] once with a man and that man was the famous juggler Federico Garcia Lorca [the Spanish Surrealist poet]. It was very painful."

See it here (in the quotations section at the bottom.)

Okay, I don't think THAT is a valid path.....
Laughing Still believe in coincidences? Laughing

Supposition from chat:

Toby told ThatDeadDude "Wishlington is a combination of Washington and Islington" On the cover of book zero it says "erica" possibly "America"? Jackalope is going to receive the map. He's in Florida. Perhaps the next search will take place in the states.

In that case, we should probably warn duckie about it?
My guess is that a hunt in the states will lead to Orkid as the one in London led to Toby

As MG said I'm in Florida, so Washington is right out for me. I know that there was no map or starting point in the package I recieved, no hidden text or weird writing for all I can see. I don't know what else to say.
