Maurice Pikar - Do we agree that he's the dude who took all of Lucy's cash (referenced in Robert's profile thingy) in a high profile card game? Lucy also says (on Devon's profile thingy) that she played poker with Maurice once, so this kind of solidifies that in my mind. Anyway, though it might be worth adding that to the blog part about the new info for the characters...
Anyway, nice job! Me likey.

Thanks, Dorkie.
Re: Maurice, my current feeling is that he's either the guy who was at Lucy's apartment the Saturday after Robert's death (which may be why she had her mom go over and ask who he was) or that yeah,he's the guy that Lucy lost all her money to. I'm unsure which I think is more viable right now, so I'll stick both of them in
Thanks for the input!

I think everyone's pretty much in agreement he's the guy at the apartment, the question is whether the game lucy had played with him before was the same one where she lost all her money and her father's house
-Edit: and a little proof he is the Euro roller:

This old man had given her the worst beat of her life. His tell was a little tilt of the chin when he went for the kill, but she only recognized it after she'd gone all in.

Basically, the question is: is the guy that Robert called "The Buyer" and Maurice Pikar (the old man at the funeral) the same person? There are a few details suggesting that to be the case, the most solid of which seems to be the fact that they have the same bodyguard:
- The Buyer has a "Greek or middle eastern, ex-military with commando training" guy accompny him to Lucy's apartment
- Maurice Pikar has a "big Israeli" named Simon, who seems to be living at his apartment - like a bodyguard would.

I don't necessarily agree. I agree that the fellow who came to Lucy's apartment is Maurice Pikar. According to "Unwelcome Visitors ," he is also the fellow who left the message on Lucy's voice mail, whom thedealer called "the Gambler." I also agree that he was the fellow at the funeral, especially since he introduced himself to Lucy's mother as Maurice. And that he is the fellow who gave her "the worst beat of her life."
However, I haven't seen any evidence so far that he is also the Buyer who called Robert. As far as I can tell, the only basis for this conclusion is that Maurice was interested in the gun. Well, so are a lot of people; using that criteria, Donald McPherson could be the Buyer. It's certainly possible that Maurice is the Buyer, but I'm not ready to commit just yet.
Other candidates for the Buyer include our friend Cigarette, Kink Coover, and Kink's boss, doncha think? (Yes, it's certainly possible that Maurice is also Kink's boss, but no evidence as yet.)

I suppose you're right. The big reservation I have is: how would Maurice be able to know that *anything* happened at the cemetery (which is why he called Lucy and eventually came in)? The easiest answer, I think, would be, "because he was the Buyer," who subsequently hired either Kink or someone else to follow Robert to the cemetery. I agree that there could be other answers. However, if Maurice isn't the Buyer, we would still need to explain the fact that he knew that something happened at the cemetery.
EDIT: btw, sorry for clogging up this thread with spec. QR should probably stay spec/discussion-free

He does have Phil Kim... his tie-in at the LAPD, who we know gave him the file on the case...

Eh, i'd rather have spec here so that I get the guide right than not have any input at all

Don't forget Lena, Lucy's mom (Spider's card)
*edit*
OK I thought Spider was Lucy's "second card" but I guess I am wrong.
