Triskabiblios Library Trading Post Thanks to our dear Triscal, (&Incog's *nudge nudge*) I thought it would be wonderful for us to have a place where people who are interested could post that they're willing to trade/send tomes throughout our little Triskabiblios journey.
Here are the 13 rules of the UF Triskabiblios Trading Post:
1.) Don't put your address here in the thread unless you want to. .
2.) Leave a message here stating whether you're interested in trading a book, receiving a book, sending a book on, or any combination of the three.
3.) If you see a familiar (or unfamiliar) face you're interested in exchanging with, PM (private message) the user letting them know you'd like to exchange, requesting their address. Do not put the request here in the thread. We wanna keep the list manageable for newcomers.
4.) By participating in this thread, you are not obligated to share any information with anyone you don't wish to. We wouldn't want anyone invading your little anonymous comfort zone if you don't want them to, but be nice about it if you turn down the offer. We want to release the peace here, not promote flaming or arguments betwixt us. We're a happy little dysfunctional family, and we're in it together for the long haul.
5.) If you only have a book you'd like to send, post it here to see if someone is interesting in receiving it.
6.) Remember, you're the one responsible for any postage and handling incurred. (Don't call me seeking a reimbursement, you're doing this out of the goodness of your heart while educating your fellow wo/man. )
7.) By participating in this thread, this does not give you free range to harass another participant via mail. (That means not signing the recipient up for snail spam).
8.) If you don't have a "physical" book to trade, there's always e-books, and they can be sent as an attachment by email. Let's unleash the spirit of the internet.
9.) By participating in this thread via e-book exchange, this does not give you free range to harass another participant via email. (That means not signing the recipient up for spam).
10.) Feel free to post about exchanges you have made with other participants. This lets everyone else know what a great thing it is, and that it's okay to let go of that copy of 'The Time Machine' if someone else is going to gain something from it.
11.) If you agree to exchange with another participant, you agree not to post their personal information here in the thread.
12.) Remember, a lot of our users are under the age of 18, so be sure to ask if you're wanting to pass on that salacious time travel book you read last month.
13.) In the words of our dear Dean, Have fun!

I guess I'll be one of the first to lead by example...
Because of a possible upcoming move, I cannot do snail mail exchanges at this time, because I don't know exactly how much longer I'll be living at my current address.
But this doesn't stop me! I've got a plethora of ebooks (including quite a few of our Triska references) that I'm willing to send till the cows come home. Look to this post later for an active list of ebooks that I have that I am more than happy to forward to you.

I'd be more than happy to send/receive books. You can look me up on AIM or pm/e-mail me for the mailing information.
As of this moment, I don't think I own any books that would be related to the Triskabrary - and unless Islington starts referencing Kurt Vonnegut or Stephen King, I don't think I ever will. However, I am making plans (once I have some spare money) to get my hands on Xorandor and maybe a few others.
However, if I receive a book from someone else I'll be happy to pass it on once I'm finished reading it.
So I'm up for anything, really.

Yay!
I really want to encourage folks to participate in this. I can vouch for the fact that the giving of a book really is as fun as the recieving!
As far as whether or not the book is Triskaworthy.....I think that has pretty much been left up to us. We can all see what 'type' of books Islington has steered us towards thus far.....'illuminating' would probably be a good description of them.
I chose Siddhartha because I LOVE the story, because I consider it to be an illuminating book, and because (at that time) I was beginning to see a tilt towards Eastern thought and self-awareness.
I do hope that people post what books they recieve. It will spread the sharing of the book even further if the rest of us can then go out and get it ourselves. (on that note....don't post a book when you send it---I think it is nice for it to be a surprise to the recipient).
I am excited to see what knowledge my fellow Triskamaniacs decide to share!
Curiouser and curiouser....
ps--please send safe travel vibes my way....I have an out of state funeral to attend this weekend.

Kylegumby: don't discount your Kurt Vonnegut collection. The Slaughter-house Five deals with some really interesting ideas of time that Islington would probably find most interesting.

Sure, I'm game. I have few books to send but I'll see what I can dig up. I guess I can also "borrow" some art history books from my wife. I do feel I've not read enough in my life, so anything would be great for me.

Yay!!
I received a book in the post today! There is a sweet note from Orkid on the first page (and, for those of you who are wondering....the package came from Austin, TX).
It is 'The Active Side of Infinity' by Carlos Castaneda. I am sooooo excited about reading it.....I have read several other Castaneda books (the first 4 Don Juan books), but I've not read this one!!! Again, YAY!!
So, thank you, thank you, thank you Orkid!
I am telling ya'll, I have now been on both the giving and the receiving side of this.....very much worth doing! Dust off your favorite illuminating books(or hit Half.com) and start sharing!
Carry on(while I carry myself off to a comfy chair to start reading!)....

Hello My Little Triskaphytes!
Just popping a note to let you guys know that when I checked the mail today I had a little white ready post mailing envelope from our dear Orkid waiting for me when I got there. I saw the little tulip/flower on the return address and my heart leaped!
I held my composure long enough to open the envelope with the chat channel so they could experience it with me. You know I'm ALL about the experience!
Inside the book, she left me a very nice little note (I'll leave the details out because they're not really pertinent to triska, just a nice little greeting, nothing more. If something comes of it, I can refer to it in a flash. )
The book is The Tides of Time by John Brunner
(I have not read this book yet, but I will today, it looks really interesting and I can't wait to get my hands on it...so don't spoil it for me if you have. )
The book deals with time travel, almost like that of reincarnation.
Page 33/34 was the only page in the book that was dog-eared, and the most striking quote on the page was "The world belongs to all of us."
What a wonderful world....
