[META] LCP as promotional game for... (Spoilers for Client) (Changed topic to make it a bit clearer. --Phaedra)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Could this be related to the upcoming Neversoft/Activision game titled GUN ?
There's a similarly styled age check prior to viewing the trailers (the game is rated M)
The story takes place in the Wild West era. 1851 Navy Colt anyone?
Also, check out the voice talent hired for this game: Next Gen articel

Mmmph. A bit of a reach there. The privacy policy pages don't match, and I seem to recall the producer of the item you mention absolutely loathing Microsoft.
I'd suggest that there's no connection.

Also, I've seen age check pages like that on a lot of sites for upcoming games. It's actually rather common...

[META] LCP as promotional game for... I saw the link for the Neversoft site a few days ago... but just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet:

EDIT - split this topic off from the Mark of the Joker/Secret of the Safe topic to keep that on topic and away from the deeper meaning behind LCP - SG

I think a little part of me just died when finding out that this magnificent ARG is for some silly shooter.

Damn!
OK, so could the secret of the safe be related to some other Launch game for XB360?
How about Call of Duty II ?

I see no evidence of Microsoft's involvement what-so-ever at this point.
The reason why the game lasts past the Gun release date to around when XBOX 360 launches is because the XBOX 360 version of Gun doesn't launch till around that date too. Why would they cut off the ARG short, when there is still a later version to be advertised for?
I really believe this is solo for Gun. The "gang" and other storyline elements is due to the fact that they need to have a more modern storyline. Cattle rustling and shoot out at the corrals, are pretty much the equivalent of theft and gang shoots outs of today.
Also, take a look at the games trailers/previews before you bash it as a silly western shooter game. It looks GOOD. I was going to brush it off as well, but after checking it out, it looks like it will be a quality game, whether its my type of gaming experience or not.

This may be two games.
We need 2 codes
Activision has 2 games coming out around the same time, one is a western shooter, and the other a WWII shooter.
As far as the quality of GUN, check out the voice talent hired for this game: Next Gen article

I pre-ordered the xbox 360 game and was told it would be out on November 2nd. It made no sense to me either. The game is supposed to be out before the system. The clerk couldn't explain it. But maybe he gave me the wrong date?
I think GUN sounds like a great deal of fun - I bought it after all! I wouldn't spend more than $50.00 for a game I wasn't going to use just for this code.
This game could be solo for GUN - but I doubt it. Activision could easily be the money behind the game instead of MSN - that idea is just total spec on my part.

Sorry.
But really the ARG is for the ARG - for the joy of playing it. Obviously whoever is funding the ARG puts a high value on story and characters. I wouldn't be too discouraged.

ILB was also a magnificent ARG, and it was for Halo 2 , which might qualify as a "silly shooter," depending on your perspective. The Beast was also a magnificent ARG, and it was a promotion for a movie that most people I've talked to say was not particularly good.
The quality of the ARG and the quality of the product don't really seem to have much to do with one another. (Although I do like Halo 2 .)
In unrelated news, there seems to be another confirmation that this is indeed Activision, here .

I liked A.I.!
Halo 2 is not silly! It is very serious business when you start glowing so pretty and blue.
