Russian Text: Васильев, подумала она. - Сволочь.
Возможно, пришло время задуматься об зтом как следует.

Babelfish translation: Vasil'yev, it thought. - bastard. Possibly, arrived time to think about by ztom as it follows.

systransoft.com translation: Vasil'yev, it thought. - it dragged. Possibly, arrived time it thought about by ztom as it follows.

Another translation: Vasilev, it has thought. - the Swine.
Probably, time about ztom has come to reflect as follows.

I suppose one could take either conclusion for who the kid was. Reading through it, it seemed to me that Polaris was saying that Jerry M. was the kid (as in Lucky's story metaphore), but Polaris was referring to the actual kid who was with the priest (Martin/Maria). He clarifies this point by saying, "He's 11." Polaris' goal there was to get us to uncover the Priest's card, after all.

regarding the messages:
from previous update we know about the treasure(from Otto Griff) and about the train (message to polaris from Ludwig Stern aka ursa minor)

so today we find that


1. Father Mueller sends a Morse Code message about the location of the treasure to Svetlana Yugrina. (or is it information about the train... with his brother on it?) Note: Father Mueller does not know where the treasure is, but Martin does know the location.

2. Svetlana extends her retirement based on information she received about the train. (really, I think it was because of the rumour of treasure she hears) (from where? Mueller?) Svetlana goes to meet Mueller in the Metropole. Instead she runs into polaris who she knew from earlier in the war. She plays cards with him.

3. Polaris tells Johnny about the train in Nurenburg filled with Germans being sent to the Eastern sector. They attempt to steal the train with fake orders. Vasiley wakes up Svetlana to check a confirmation of the orders.

3. The attempt to steal the train fails. Vasiley gets a message from someone listing the Russian officers that had contact with American officers. Father Mueller intercepts it and tells Svetlana.

These officers are to be put on the train? Or follow the train? Svetlana is one of the two officers mentioned-- probably because of her contacts with Polaris or possibly because of the attempted train heist.

4. Johnny and Martin tell Polaris about the treasure. Svetlana agrees to play cards for the gold and the refugees. She prepares to deal with the threat from Vasiley (under the nuance picture) by escaping.

5. Otto tells Svetlana he knows about the game. ( how did he find out?) She refuses his help, but realizes that he may have made a deal with Reed or Johnny. She forces Father Mueller to shot Johnny. Seeing this, Maurice pulls Johnny's Colt and kills Mueller. Lucky agrees to cover for Maurice and goes to the stockade for him. So Lucky can't play in the game but he gets the Colt.


does this make sense? i am not sure about the Russian messages, even with the excellent translations.

So, where is Jerry in all of that? If he's not one of the eight, why are they following his story with Mitzi? Most bit characters don't have more than one or two updates, even if they're probably going to come up again (like spider, vaquero and devon). And, Jerry seems pretty upset about Mitzi...desperate men do desperate things.
