[UPDATE] October 19th

Well, is only a few hours away from the next cards being turned over. With the recent increase in puzzle difficulty, I'm excited! Polaris is playing.

Can we not prepost the update threads until, at most, an hour before the Appointed Update Time? Because I have a feeling that this might snowball until we are having threads up on Friday in anticipation of Saturday updates, and that's just going to get confusing and messy.

If it's something like coordination for live events, that needs to be up earlier, obviously it's a different story. But there's no reason for the general update threads to go up hours before the updates; they technically can go up with the first update. If people want to put them up a little early, I suppose that's okay, but no more than an hour ahead of time, okay? Thanks much. Smile --Phaedra

Two new cards up and updates to Kerry and Corazon and others, and nothing here? All the action must be in the chat, but I can't keep up with it at work!

Come on unSlingers do some posting here!

I tired but it's too damned fast for me. I'm only rated at 5wpm. I've got someone who can decode it in nothing flat but it would be days before I could get him. Sad

Ehsan found John Whitecloud from the comic (Capt. Whitecloud) and from Maurice's black book.

I got:
Code:
. .- .--- --- .-. ..- -. -.- .-- -.. ..-- --. .-. .. -. --- .--- ... .-- . - .-.. .- -..- ---. -.- .-. .- ... .--. --- .-.. .- --. .- ..-- -. . .. --.. .-- . ... - -. -.-- -- .. ... --- ..-- --.. -. .. -.- .- -- ... .-- . -.. . -. .. .-.- -- .. --- --.. .- ... .-- .- ---. . -. -. -.-- .... ..-. .- --- .. ... - .- -- .. -.-. . -. -. --- ... - .-.- .... - ---. -.- .--. .-. . -.. .-.. .- --. .- ..-- .. .... ... ... ... .-. - ---. -.- .-.- .-- -. ..-- .-. -. -... . .-. --. . .-- -- . - .-. --- .--. --- .-.. .

Which translates to (* is unknown character):
Code:
EAJORUNKWD*GRINOJSWETLAX*KRASPOLAGA*NEIZWESTNYMISO*ZNIKAMSWEDENI*MIOZASWA*ENNYHFAOISTAMICENNOST*
HT*KPREDLAGA*IHSSSRT*K*WN*RNBERGEWMETROPOLE

I ran it though an automatic decode, which gave a slightly different answer (÷ and ÿ are cyrillic letters, which exist in russian morse code but not english, but don't show up in the forum correctly)
Code:
eajorunkwdþgrinojswetlanet÷kraspolagaþneizwestnymisoþznikamswedeniÿmiozahwa÷ennyhfaøistamicennostÿ
ht÷kpredlagaþihsssrt÷kÿwnþrnbergewmetropole

According to the program, it's also at 19WPM, which is pretty fast.

Other than the obvious metropole, I noticed WEST, SWEDEN, and what could almost be BERGEN. EAJOR could also be MAJOR if it was cut off at the beginning.

[EDIT] Added a line break to prevent forum-malformation --Gisk

I can't get morse code to play. I'll look at ahecht's output though.

It won't play in Quicktime 7 for some reason, but you can right click to save the .wav to disk. I used Audacity for OS X to play the file and visually convert the waveform to dits and dots. It's faster than listening to it if you don't know morse code.

Food for thought, and given the game's propensity towards crossdressers...

I give you the pic of Martin Halder:
http://www.lastcallpoker.com/user/fathermueller/gra_martinhalder/

Now compare to the pic of the girl in Polaris's cipher:
http://www.lastcallpoker.com/user/polaris/gra_pherkadandyildun/

DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LADY!

Wouldn't be uncommon for this period in history... boys were often dressed as girls in order to smuggle them out, and also since women often got slightly better treatment.

Is it actually Russian?
If so, can Yanka translate maybe?
