Here we go, frame by frame. I turned everything back to normal. 13 screencaps. Most were flipped upsidedown and backwards.

And finally, frame 13 highlighted. It looks to me like he may have used the same layer in a few of these and added to them. Whether they're significant or not, well, that's up to speculation.

I was bumming around the site this morning to see what I could see, and smack on the front page is the Ravenscroft Day image.

Now, I know we've talked about Ravenscroft Day before, but I started wondering why it was referred to again. So I started poking around and - I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but I could very well be wrong.

Quote:
In April 2003 the publishers Transworld successfully wooed Peel with a package worth up to £1.6 million for his autobiography, having placed an advert in a national newspaper aimed only at Peel. Unfinished at the time of his death it has since been completed by Sheila. It is called Margrave Of The Marshes (ISBN 0593052528) and the planned release date was October 17, 2005.

Should we keep an eye out for this book?

Excellent connection, kylegumby! This has got to be significant, given Toby's postings on the BBC after Peel's death, the mention of Ravenscroft Day and the importance of Monday the 17th of October. I don't think this is one of the 13books, but it's definitely worth a look. It might be another of those 'weird but not connected to 13books' connections, but you never know...

Despite the number of claims in publishers blurbs, not many people actually achieve the status of legend in their own lifetime. Fewer still actually deserve that status. John Peel is the exception which proves that rule, a Great Briton whose contribution to British culture is undeniable, without whom popular culture would never have become popular. Beloved by millions - whether for his unstinting championing of musical talent on Radio 1 or for his wildly popular Radio 4 show Home Truths - this is the astonishing book he began to write before his untimely death in October 2004, completed by the woman who knew him best, his wife Sheila.

The first half of the book, written by John, describes with characteristic humour his early life, from child to man, including his school days and National Service. You can hear the unique Peel voice in every sentence - rarely, if ever, before has a voice been so successfully transferred to paper. The second section, written by Peel's wife and soulmate of many years, Sheila Ravenscroft, gives us an intimate portrait of the man and his music, and the highs and the lows of everyday life at Peel Acres. The completion of this book has been a labour of love for John's family and their passion has paid off. It's every bit as extraordinary as the man himself and a fitting tribute to a bona fide legend.

I needed to post this in case it wasn't obvious to anyone else.
Thanks to Withe's skillz with the graphics, we have a lot of clues from the GIF file that was on the site for a short period after "curtain" came to chat and basically Screamed, "Go look at the Triska site!".

One of the images captured (the Grid) is a capture from Orkid's blog calendar. Extra care was made to include the "Mon, Oct. 17th, 2005 01:38 am" part of the page. Since we're still learning how to travel in time, that's the only date from her posts we can "do" anything with.
She's telling us the time of the meet! Nice of her to adjust our presumed time so that those of us in North America might have a chance to catch the happenings. US West coast time is Sunday, 5:38 pm while east coast is Sunday, 8:38 pm.

We have a time. We need a location.
In chat, (I think it was Incog Neato) found that There is a London tube station called, "Saint Pancras Station". Relevant as Another of the graphics from the GIF says, "st. sweetbreads stn". And sweetbreads include the pancreas. So now we have a location as well.

From there, I conjecture that the text of Orkids latest post provide further clues. The opening is directly related to the fact that this will be happening in the morning, GMT time.

If you look at the picture of Toby in bed on the Triska site, currently, there is what could be a statue of a dormouse on the table between him and the mirror behind him. I see it as a mouse charicature standing erect and facing away from us. (Really big ears).

I think Graeme should be looking for:
1) This fugurine
2) a teapot as referenced in Orkid's post
3) a box (Also from Orkids post)
4) a "Hot off the presses" copy of Margrave Of The Marshes

Is there maybe a tea kiosk in this station?

Okay, fire away. Where is my analysis flawed?

EDIT:
Isn't the British Library very near Pancras Station, as well?

Great work, Rogi! Still think the "main event" will be at Paine's statue at 18:30 tomorrow, but this additional info from Curtain/Iz is very intriguing indeed...

Re. the time on Orkid's post. Remember, Orkid is in the US, so if Mon, Oct. 17th, 2005 01:38 am is her time on the east coast, then it's equivalent to 06:38am London time. If she's central time it's 07:38, mountain time is 08:38 and pacific time is 09:38 (all these are London times, Monday morning). Does anyone know exactly where she is (Withe, she sent you a book, right?) On the other hand, she may be posting and giving us UK times, which puts 'events' back on Sunday night again.

Good spot on the sweetbreads thing, btw. Sweetbreads = pancreas and thymus glands. Yum. Saint sweetbreads could well be SAINT PANCR E AS STATION. St Pancras station is also linked to the Northern Line of the Tube, and is one stop east of Angel and one stop west of Euston (which is where the British Libary and Newton's statue are). So it's in the right area on the right line.

Re. the figurine - not sure where the "pic of Toby in bed" is, but if you mean the new image on the 2nd page, then I assumed it was a distorted one of the young John Peel, perhaps posing on the hood of an expensive car with a figurine at the front. [must see if I can find the original] The John Peel book is certainly out tomorrow - is there a launch party anywhere near Islington?

I agree there may be something in Orkid's story: it is the time of the year in the UK where mice are trying to get inside houses in search of warmth, so it might have actually happened (but I think not). She goes outside in the late morning ('the last of the sun on my back', not the middle of the night, not 01:38am) and finds something unexpected (a moving teapot), which contains something even more surprising (a sleeping dormouse). She tries to take the dormouse inside and puts it in a box and feeds it, but it escapes mysteriously. All that is left is the box.

There are several possible leads here - are there any Alice-in-Wonderland-related statues in London? If I was in London tomorrow or on Monday morning, I'd keep my eye out for a TEAPOT or a BOX.

Cheers

Orkid "lives" in the UK, but is from Austin Tx.
She said, somewhere she's been in the UK for two years.
She "fessed up" earlier about the note havng been delivered in Austin, as well.

I could be wrong. (We've had so many trolls trying to ruin everything), but that's what I remember of the incidents as they played out.

Got it!

The image from the second page is from here: http://www.radiogeronimo.co.uk/johnpeel1a.jpg (warning: contains nudity)

See it in context here at the Friends of Radio Geronimo page: http://www.radiogeronimo.co.uk/sfriends.htm

Here is a small version:

The caption is 'teenage dreams, so hard to beat'. It seems to show a slightly bored-looking Peel naked in a bath with a lovely lady behind him in another bath. The thing we thought was a figurine is in fact a bath-tap. But who is the lovely lady?

The text goes:
John Peel (Ravenscroft) 1939-2004
Anecdotal evidence suggests that, around 1969/70, John Peel kindly supplied Geronimo with copies of new records that, because of embargoes, he was not allowed to play on BBC Radio 1. This would have been typical of John's desire to champion new music and make it available to listeners. Festive 50's, disinterred thirty three and a thirds, Dandelion, Biscuit, The Pig, Home Truths...
A truly unique radio talent - gone but never forgotten.

There are so many ways to remember John Peel's championing of new music. Here's just one of them. From 1967, the sleeve notes for the Elektra album 'Select Elektra':-

"In these days, often rancid, it is written in some plastic bound handbook that recorded creations and love are to lie smothered beneath the grasping need for 'Chart' records. New labels spin, laden with good intentions, into the fringes of our understanding with signs crying 'brave' and 'new'. Shortly shattered and spent, they drift, senseless, into on of several oblivions. Either they wither and die or, being bloated now, find the equally frightful safe death of compromise and 'star' artistes of cynical adaptability.

There are those brave and beautiful companies feeding on miracles and devotion which have struggled for years without fouling their consciences. They have provided us with jewellery to scatter in our minds - they deserve our salutes and whenever support.

Only one label has discovered purity lying in the same elusive bed of success. They sign few artists but those they sign find themselves overnight on Olympus. They release few records but those they release are honest and essential. They publicise little, for the very excellence of their crafts is, in itself, a cry from every discerning roof-top.

You know who I'm talking about."

"I love it when a plan comes together..."

Here's the cover from the new book:

(Bigger version here: http://tinyurl.com/9a65x)

Is that Sheila Ravenscroft on the cover? If so, there's a certain resemblance to the Lady in the Bath... In fact, I think it's gotta be her.

Also, check here (http://tinyurl.com/ajjb3) for an advance review in last weeks Guardian of Margrave of the Marshes and more info on Peel and Sheila (who he called 'the pig' apparently...)

Totally off-topic, but...
Why is it every time I see the tub picture, I expect it to be Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg?

Orkid is in Austin, TX. She said that she HAD lived abroad for a couple of years....not that she was still doing so.

The book I received from her had an Austin return address and the postmark was from Texas.

I am pretty stoked about the St. Pancras Station bit. If you had been there (live chat) you would probably have laughed at my first attempts to figure it out(St. Kidney, St. Thymus gland, etc.)....I only figured it out by Googling -St. Station London-, from there it became pretty apparent. Wink

So, yeah, big picture.....Orkid is Austin, I also think that the 'main event' is still at Paine's statue, and I believe that something will go down at St. Pancras Station. I wish I was in England. Wink

Curiouser and curiouser....

(oh yeah....Great find on the pic Law of Five!!) Wink

Edit: Having gone back and reread the most recent posts....I see that the British Library has come up again. Since it has come up a few times...and considering the nature of our 'quest'...I would not be surprised to find out that it will have a greater role than we have ascribed it thus far. Just a thought.

Yes, she did. I was just checking in before I went off to read it.
The Tides of Time by John Brunner.

The package came from Austin, Texas. (I'm gonna be respectful and keep her privacy by not publishing her address, you guys, unless she tells me different... Very Happy )

Great find, Law! (In ref to the Peel photo)
(On another note, why is it that we always assume every guy with long dark hair is Toby? Wink Laughing )

ETA: The peelacres.jpg is missing from the indexb.html page. Maybe we're getting ready to have another update?? hmmm hmmm? It's 10:07 PM my time (-5 GMT)

ok people.. the image on page 2 has changed again.

it now contains a flash called circadian

it contains to what i believe a juggler. it also has some sort of kid in there who is better visible. appears to be juggling as well..

the flash starts out with some rotating words on top of some triangular thing..

maybe someone can decomb the flash to get the frames lifted from it..
