banned?

This issue came up with the moderators/admins earlier this week. Have you tried logging in today? Are you using any sort of proxy?

I tried logging in today but I'm still banned.

I emailed my service provider to ask about how to secure my internet - they replied with instructions to add a password to get internet access so I have done this.

After much confusion and checking (I'm still not sure I understand how proxys work) - I'm pretty sure that I am not using a proxy.

Also - I don't know if it is useful to know but my computer and internet connection have both been off for a couple of weeks because I was away - when I returned I was banned?

Just to be clear -- you were not banned personally, as far as we know.

However, a ban of something else - like spamming bots with similar IP addresses - may have inadvertently swept you up. Or something else equally unintentional. Work with jamesi to figure it out.
