I wrote Bruce an email telling him what I thought his and Diana's relationship was...here's my email and Bruce's response.

Dear Pam:

Thank you very much for your understanding. Your description is very
accurate --
Diana was a very special person to me, and someone who went through a
lot of
turmoil through the last few months of her life when her husband
stopped
confiding in her. I did what I could to comfort her. At times, I did
question
whether perhaps things should have turned out differently when we all
first
knew one another over a decade ago. I think it's just human nature to
think
about the path not traveled -- particularly when the one you're on is
not
always what you hoped it would be. But Dale was and is my friend, and
that fact
is also something that I would never forget -- even now, while we are
estranged.
