Can someone please send Ego a DC and/or Atlanta chip? I mailed 'em to him but the envelope was shredded and the chips lost enroute...

I can cover a DC chip for him.
Drop me a note.

Jane gave me a whole bunch of LA chips at Sharkey's. Let me know if you want one!

chips

My understanding is that after an event Jane gave at least one person a box of chips from the event.

I know Phaedra mentioned in chat that she got a box of KC chips not from the KC event but at a different unofficial game of Tombstone Poker.

I got a box from NY - I have sent out a bunch of them already to people. I was planning on bringing the remaining ones to ARGFest. Mailing them to a few people wasn't a problem, but I had to buy special envelopes to protect the chips, which turned into a nuisance because the ink kept running on them, and the cost started to add up after I sent out about 20 envelopes. But I am willing to send out more if people PM me. Hmm maybe mailing me a preprinted envelope would be even better.

I think someone got a box from Atlanta but not sure who that was.

Same thing for SF and DC - but again I am not sure who got the chips after those events.

I think the trading is going well.(although someone did jokingly asked me for 20 NY chips just to get one KC chip for me, which I assumed was an error as I know Phaedra is distributing those)

I know some people -like AmberJoy- were waiting for sets of chips that were going to be sent after LA - so those people haven't received any chips yet.

If people want to do a centralized thing, I suppose it could be worked out. But it will be a more time consuming and expensive project than it first appears. And I am not capable of doing it. Just trying to figure out the packets at ARGFest was beyond my abilities (ask bagsbee and diandra Wink )

Maybe we need a different solution? I know Jane told me that she wanted us to give the chips out to people or use them as prizes at ARGFests or something benefiting the community.

As I said, I thought the trading was working well, but if it isn't, we can figure out something else.

Yay to those who have replied so far. Padded envelopes are packed. Still looking for more SF & KC chips to build a set for Nadif and TheShark.

Many thanks to those of you who responded (and previous advanced trades on the hopes that I would have enough LA chips). You guys ROCK!

Nobody I know of was given a bunch of extra chips after DC, and can't remember if anybody was in Atlanta.

I don't think we need to centralize, all that would do is add an extra mailing (and chance of loss) to each chip.

Ah, just a clarification: I didn't get a box. Jane gave me a large double-handful of chips. I don't know how many chips are in a box, but I don't think I got that many, and in any case, mine are almost gone (I think I have 2 left...).

If people want to do a centralized thing, I suppose it could be worked out. But it will be a more time consuming and expensive project than it first appears. [/quote]

As far as centralizing the organization of chip trading, Shad0 has kindly set up a place for that on the wiki. Do we need to centralize further?

I don't think we want to centralize in the sense of sending all the chips to one person and having that person send them out. That's a lot of essentially superfluous postage.

I think the chip trading is going fairly well, but if it gets too unorganized, we could always do something where everyone who has extra chips sends one person a list of all the spare chips they have, and everyone who wants chips sends the same person a request, and that person coordinates who sends to whom, but as of yet, that appears unnecessary. (Oh, and that was not me volunteering. Wink)

As far as cost, for those who are interested in knowing, I'm using the same padded mailers that I used for the ILB DVDs. They're 3/$2 at Walgreens, and I send them out from work, so I'm not sure of the postage (I suppose I could check it on my pro forma, but that's a lot of work Razz), but I assume it's probably around $0.60.

However, if you're less paranoid than I am, the chips I've been sent in normal envelopes, between index cards, have arrived safely. Those, I believe, are just a normal stamp.

oops- I misunderstood sorry. I know she was trying to distribute them. Maybe it depended on how many chips she had left over after the event (if any.)

For mailing, I was using these padded CD things that cost a dollar or so each. The postage is $.60 to the US.

I don't know how many people need or want NY chips. Is the wiki the best way to go with it at this point? As I said, I planned to bring whatever I have left to ARGFest - maybe we can play some Tombstone Poker there?

Now that I've had the chance to play, I was hoping there would be an appropriate place in/near Chicago for us to do so (since it was missed on the official Graveyard Games list).

Ahh....I'm going to hypothesize for a moment here and go out on a limb and say that the reason there were no Graveyard Games in Chicago was because when the PMs inquired about holding Graveyard Games there, they were denied rather vehemently.

So, while I think it would be great fun to have a Tombstone Hold 'Em game with as many Chicago-area people as we can get, perhaps in the interest of not getting 4orty2wo in trouble, we should use normal chips, not the official LCP ones. Wink

Just a thought.

I think it would depend on the cemetery and its affiliation and the whole gangster angle (still re: Chicago), but don't quote me on that.

ETA:
Kiyash and I got to chat about the Chicago special favors a bit, and he asked how easy it was for me to find Capone's grave. I said it was pretty easy, but also I had looked up several sources online to make sure his family plot was corroborated pretty well. He said that when he arrived there to scout the location, the office there would not tell him where the stone was located (I think he ended up either finding it by chance, or sweet-talking a groundskeeper). Considering that Scarface's marker has been stolen a few times over the years (I discovered this during my web research), and seeing how trampled down the grass was surrounding his family's site, it seems as though encouraging tourism through tommy gun nostalgia is a bit frowned upon around here. Heh.

Ok, just to clarify, I didn't get a box of chips. I was eating my taco at sharkey's and Jane rushed up and asked me if I got any chips. I said I had one or two, then she dumped about 15 in my hand and ran off. I guess she had some left over and wanted to make sure they were put to good use. But it was no where near the amount that the 3rd place winners of the tournament got. They got a full box of chips, probably around 100 chips if I had to guess.

I just want to make sure the chips I have go to good use. There's no reason for me to keep all of them. I'm fine with maling off one per person to anyone who wants to PM me. If you have extra chips from another event and want to send me one, go for it. But I'm really not asking for anything in return. If someone wants to centralize this whole process that's great, but I don't think it really needs to be that complex.

I can provide 2 SF chips if you don't already have people sending them fro Nadif and TheShark. I already had one but I got 3 from Pita at Sharky's just in case there were people who didn't get SF. Smile

Yay! thanks Phaedra!

I've got an extra NY chip to trade if anyone needs it. Other than that I only have my love and devotion to trade.

I've got another small token to offer anyone who has given me a chip so far or could in the future. I just got five four more sealed decks of Gun cards. I know the Mark of the Joker doesn't help much now, but it's still a nice piece of game swag. PM if you're interested.

I just need an SF, ATL and LA .
