Welcome back to RECEDA'S REVENGE!

Due to high demand, we are pleased to release a sneak preview of a work-in-progress unofficial mini-chapter available to all adventurers to play simultaneously. Because this is a work-in-progress, this preview does not make use of our experimental natural language processing system.

Click here to begin Receda's Revenge Chapter 1.5: A Knight's Journey.

You pick yourself up from the floor, still in shock from the old man's sudden but inevitable betrayal. But a Princess must be rescued and a Kingdom saved: this no time for a hero to cower! You must pursue Lord Flaganroth in the deluded hope you can stop this all-powerful villain from escaping the city when you've not even reached Chapter 2.

You are still in your tiny house with only three rooms: kitchen, bedroom and living area. From where you are, you can see all the rooms - clean, but spare. There is an air of want throughout, reflected by your fraying clothes and the old, many-times repaired furniture.

There is a wardrobe, a cabinet and a sock puppet here. You grab you trusted sock puppet and prepare to leave.

You open the cabinet, but something heavy falls off the top shelf and lands on you. In the moments before you die you realise you should have known this would happen again.

Teleo Alley sits close to the heart of the town, and a great deal of people and carriages stream along the narrow, cobbled road at all times of day. Both sides of the road are packed with small shops and cramped housing. Shouts, laughter and chatter can be heard constantly. When you aren't being shoved around by busy passers-by, you can spot your home here - it's number 333, the small red door next to the butchers.

Due to major construction work on the nearby all-you-can-quaff tavern, your usual route into town is blocked off. You can more north west, north east, or return to the house.

You make your way around the side of the tavern, careful to avoid any falling tools or scaffolding. Ahead of you lies Mandrake plaza, full of street sellers selling their wares (as street sellers are known to do). Amongst the barrows of fruits and hand crafted jewellry you spot a flash of dark cape to the north. The chase is on.

You can go north past the stalls or take a short cut east behind the tavern

You carefully make your way past the ongoing tavern construction work, emerging onto a deserted street. For no reason whatsoever a small piece of tumbleweed drifts across your path and a bell tolls. You sense Lord Flaganroth is near.

You carefully make you way along a narrow passage behind the tavern, watching the sky for falling objects. In doing so you completely miss the recently dug lavatory hole and fall to a most unpleasant death. That'll teach you to take short-cuts.

You find yourself in a small cul-de-sac. Unfortunately you are not alone. Lord Flaganroth has dispatch a recently bereaved troll to slow you down. You just have time to notice an uncanny brotherly resemblance as his large and pointy axe crashes down. Your glove puppet is killed instandly. Mad with grief you run off into the night, never to be seen again.

As you push past the carts you catch sight of the cloak again. It is Lord Flaganroth and he's almost within your grasp. You majestically leap over a pyramid of watermellons and lunge out, just seizing the corner of his cape. Lord Flaganroth is yanked backwards but the cloak come free. Laughing manically, as evil Lords are prone to do, he climbs aboard a waiting carrige which races into the distance. In dispair you look down at the cloak. It is only then you notice a small packet containing a card. It's an advertisment: 'Luminary Inn - Where You Can Rest In Peace'. You hail a carrige and set off in pursuit. What perils lie ahead and dangers must be fought. Find out in Chapter 2 of Receda's Revenge!

You run in the complete opposite direction to Lord Flaganroth. A bold and unusual move, but ultimately a mistake as you run in to a sheet of glass being carried across the street. The glass shatters, impailing you. In your last moments you hear: "That's the second time that's happened this week..."

I predict that some day, sock puppets will rule the world, and we will fulfill our ultimate destinies as mere unworthy peons, fit only to serve them.

Ahem, until then, if someone wants to make an awful lot of old geeks happy, they should actually write more Receda's Revenge episodes. Definitely money in it, I assure you.
