Well, I agree with Obes translation, too, because it fits better to the plot. The problem with those translations may be some subtleties. I know about my bad english, so I'm sorry for that. I will do better in the future, i promise

There is something else, i want to point out. Some of the German texts look like German, but they aren't originally. Sometimes it is even hard for a German native speaker to understand what is behind those texts. That's when the text was originally written in English or in another language and got babelfished into German - I think.

So I didn't try to find the grammatical correct translation to the german text, I used the babelfish to do it and that is what i got from the babelfish. Except for the word order.

Finally I don't know which one we have to take, because I don't know what we have to do with all this. Do we have to find some other pages depending on those translations? Do we have to find a whole text/story/whatever this "quotation" fits in?

I made the dr. Carl mistake. You picked that one up. See? It helps to have a german around that actually knows whats written. How to translate it into 'propper english' is a point of debate anyway and will be a team effort.

On that matter:

It means what it means (like all those german quotes) could be mere dressup to set the atmosphere. But could also prove to mean something later on. No way of telling untill somebody 'stumbles' onto a meaning or code in them.

Holding hands up here, I'm not a great speaker of the german language. I know enough to get me through most things, and my grammar is terrible (hence why I said 'it's only grammar' . I just translate things into english in a way I understand, which is usually english grammar, terrible thing to do because english grammar is weird, but it helps me understand.

It probably doesn't matter anyway, just thought I'd say. Although I think we should follow the native speaker here (Unless I get my housemate to help us, she's a native speaker too, but didn't help with the Bald line).

i checked thru cross symbols too-- but i couldn't find
a match without turning it on its side. and then in
jordon's note he does say:

He doesn't know either... for sure. Probably it is a map. But looking for what else it could be does not hurt. If it's a map... why the care in putting it "rightside up"?

I even did a search on layouts of buildings (mainly churches) but no luck. Laying the symbol on a streetmap is like fitting a sugarcube in a cup of coffee; it always fits.
