PUZZLE: blue mail! with a pdf/doc

the text of the letter, titled Facets:

7/22/24

If strange things happen where she is,
So that men say that graves open
And the dead walk, or that futurity
Becomes a womb and the unborn are shed,
Such portents are not to be wondered at,
Being tourbillions in Time made
By the strong pulling of her bladed mind
Through that ever-reluctant element.

the guides

There were two attachments, appended here. They're basically the same, but the PDF is more delicately shaded between colors. However, the doc one has more distinct demarcation between changes, like in the bottom right hand corner. The PDF looks the same along that last line, but the doc clearly shows a diff between the CC3 and the 5I, FWIW. It reminds me of one of those puzzles where, if we change the length of the line, it'll line the colors up differently and make a picture. That would be easier in doc format.

It's 50x50, according to my word processor quick-check. Should we expect the red team to get its complement?

Check out this
For the poem, "On Portents" by Graves.

mythosphere.org/graves.html portents.html and onportents.html don't work

This is the word file, changed to 100 character lines. Nothing too obvious stands out but there is an interesting somewhat symmetrical pattern, such as the upper right corners that are darker. However, there are random single letters that are markedly different colors scattered in places. I'm certain that, instead of these letters being important, it's an artifact of the gradiant of coloration.

No answer, but a different look:

I took the .doc and zoomed out to 25% on my Word

If you look at it while balancing on your chair upside down... it looks somewhat like an odd face (black being hair, red being features, etc). I seem to remember seeing a similar face somewhere (perhaps anonymousfame? that's my gut).

Anyway, that's my hunch.
