There are only two English words ending with those letters which the average native speaker of English would recognize.

Not sure how or if this fits in for you folks, as I'm attempting to read and re-read this thread and am a bit bonkers over it.

The entire "riddle" or "puzzle" over the -gry idea is a lot more involved. The 3rd word doesnt exist, its a play on words, making each answer different depending on the wording of the puzzle used. I delved further into it because while what I found seemed to "fit", it wasnt making me comfortable it was the answer either.

From my scouring around the different wordings of this conundrum it seems the original wording of the debate was worded as such that "three" was the answer. I'll go back and get the URL for that as well to help everyone understand better, but at this point it was all I could wrap my head around. I was actually hoping someone would come behind me and say "Nope, I did blah blah blah and it comes out like this", but I havent seen it. I hadnt edited the previous post b/c I wanted to make sure I had a reason to, but I do agree it doesnt seem to "add up"

*EDIT*
Here is the riddle:
This version is usually stated with certain words capitalized, for no
apparent reason but historical accident:

There are three words in the English language that end in "gry." ONE
is angry and the other is hungry. Every ONE knows what the third ONE
means and what it stands for. Every ONE uses them every day. And if
you listened carefully I've given you the third word. What is it?

The answer is "three," the third word in the paragraph. The rest of
the paragraph is a red herring.

so.. gry is 2, asking for 3 (3rd) or 1/10 (line?) or 1/120 or 0.212 (inch, mm)

Now just extrapolating 'the riddle' to make it fit with 4 is no logical step I can make.

As we were told numbers are important, my guess is the answer is in the measure not in the riddle.

I'm not sure how you could even get to that. gry is not a value of 2. This is a riddle, which if we use it, we cant use part and negate the rest. IF its true that the riddle is the key to the source AND the answer isnt 3, to deal with the sort of countdown we've had recently, the only other clear assumption to me is that it is non-existent. This could be something just to throw our heads for a spin until we figure out something different. I'll say this again, I'm not saying the riddle is the correct thing to be looking at for what is in the source, I simply posted what I found it to be and how it COULD correlate to the countdown, as we have been having. (3, 2, 1, 0)

Far be it from me to stick my head into this, cuz I have no idea what it all means, and having read through the entire thread I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the info contained therein....just trying to help.

That is my point. Hence the fat [or] and hence the numbers behind the meaning of the word itself. But no help there so far.

But maybe (like the riddle Wink ) this one has no solution to it. Now that would be a real tease.

btw.. it says g r y not gry......... hmmmm.

ROT-16 comes out as "who". Could be the beginning to a question.

ran a decryption and came out with these options

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
WHAT THE III WHOM
BODY YOU III BOTH
WHAT THE III WHOS
HAND DAY III HAVE
THIS SHE OOO THAN
SHUT THE III SHOW
MOST TOP III MORE

Now we have to figure out if the "who" from the last one was correct, and if so, how do any of these fit, or is it something entirely different?

Someone please post something that IS the answer, I'm not confident in my methods Confused

*EDIT* The image name has changed to qu13ends "Thank QU13E" as well

The author also changed from Clockstop the Whys to sparkrent, the one that messaged 3 of us.

If this stays with his message of 3, 2, 1 of us, then the secrets spill. 2 of us should be getting company soon.

*EDIT2*

Reversed the code, then decrypted again.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
WENT III AND DONT
FROM III NOW WHOM
JUNE III AND DONE
THAN III WAS SPAN
WHAT III CAN NEAT
OPEN III LET THEN
GRAY III WAS STAY

This one: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1340

Along the top it has the Anagram and Cryptogram tabs. I'm just hoping it was right Wink

I got ICQ'd by sparkrent today. Tried to reply but he logged off:

I'm not sure, but something is odd with the last source update. All the other updates happened around midnight of this guys timezone (given that he lives in japan or so [+9 GMT]).

The last update was in the middle of the *same* day, WHY?

Does that mean, that this update is unrelated to the countdown?

I also got a message from sparkrent:

A MESSAGE FROM WE TO QU13E:

What happens when all the time you've killed comes back to haunt you?

Clockstop the Whys will soon learn.
