Well, the big question of the day is who is "she" and who did she keep secret? We dont really have a great clearing yet of who is on what side, or if there even are sides. That was one reason I was hoping once we got that info it might shed more light. I'm up for any fresh ideas people can think up, we beat quite a few into the ground already today, as you can see from the thread.

*EDIT* Oh yeah, since this game launched and we have conversations going in 50 million directions, how do we petition for our own forum section? Are we not to that point yet? I just think it might be easier to filter a lot of the discussions other than in 1 thread Cool

my guess as to who she kept secret is random martin, because i remember reading on the splinterworld site that he was hiding out in japan for a while. as far as i can tell, he just decided to go off and hide in japan. the splinterbitch tried to find him, but was unsuccesful.

i think i remember her saying something about a friend of hers (the splinterbitch) who might have known where random was but wouldn't tell her, but i think that friend was a he

If it turns out that its a he in this game, I already know who it is and it will start the game in a loop. On AIM with sparkrent I asked if they were the keeper, they said "only of secrets", so that is admission to who they are in that context. Can we get that lucky? Confused

WAIT a second. Has anyone gotten verification that sparkrent was a male? You dont think the one drawing us in is the one that holds the secret, do you? If so, how do we deal with him? We dont know his true intentions, OUCH, brain hurts again Confused

I found some other names that can mean "rising sun" in Japanese:

Asuka
Ashita
Asaka
Asahi

The standard Japanese word for "rising sun" is "asahi" so perhaps we want to start there?

sure, send out e-mails to them SPLATqu13e.com and if one of them doesnt come back within a few mins you solved the dilemma Mr. Green Nothing would make me happier.

Good news and bad news with the code. I think I might have figured out how to get it solved.

*Edit* OK, I'll put the "supposed" key under spoiler. This in NO way means any of this is correct, this is a silly theory on my part.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
hex_md5(p)!="3ed1a05f37aa04cee68d79b28670aa42" The actual key will be only the part in quotes

I found a website that reverse engineers MD5 http://md5.rednoize.com/ This will give you results that look like the key, only MUCH longer. You will need to paste them onto notepad or some simple text document and keep them in order. Now the bad news. You can only get a max of like 8 characters in each attempt, so you have to be very careful with exactly where your submission started and stopped. The top portion of the code with % is insignificant, already decoded and was of no use. It wa simple text stating the MD5 existed. That leaves the rest of the source unknown. The very bottom you can see is the simple page coding, unecessary. We had a theory that the rest of the page was simply the password verification, but labfly will have to fill you in (by no means do I want anyone to think I did every bit of work on this today, we had MANY team members contribute). If that turns out to be true (that it is only password verification), the the "key" I posted above will most likely be the password in code. If I knew how to decode that I would decode the "key" first and see if it matches the password. It could save a ton of work. That is as far as my thoughts have gone, and as always, I'm open to suggestions, theories, answers, anything. I'm just offering up my perspective

The term SPLAT is to prevent spambots from picking up e-mail addresses. Write them as normal, but never post on the forum as normal, always post with SPLAT instead Wink

I tried them all, but they all got sent back to me.

Random thought: I saw something in the splinternails journal that referred to "Ms. Tay Kusmade". I tried those emails but nothing worked. However, I'm seeing if I can make some sort of acronym.

Any ideas?

@Glecius:
I think what you try to figure out with the MD5 code is nothing else than the password checking feature of the page solitairea.html. I guess it reads the entry in the password box and checks it against the stored MD5 hash that you posted above.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The posted hash is the one you will get, when you use the MD5 algorithm on the phrase 'Clockstop the Whys'.

I just sent an email to akeySPLATqu13e.com a few minutes ago in which I asked, if she might help us. It still didn't bounce. I hope this is a good sign...

"the sound of the rising sun"

Sounds like Japan. Or Japan in Japanese: Nippon.
What else does Japan sound like? Ogenkides ka?
Wakai masen!

The japanese name, Aki.. sounds like "a key"

I tried quite a few common Japanese names: Sakura, Kyoko. I tried "Hikaru" which means light, and "Kagi" which means key. Nothing.

Hopefully "akey" works...I tried that one last night but it didn't work.

EDIT: Tried it again and got it back...I think we're back at square one, guys.

today's sparkrent journal:

Quote:

And so this, I, have been discovered.

It is of little consequence now; besides, the living may still be of use to us.

splinternails has been released from QU13E, and they will have to enter if they ever are to find him. If I am ever to reap my just reward.

Be warned, all souls belong to splinternails.

The qu13est hath begun.

we have several quests
find Random Martin (in Japan?.. i agree with puppy... it could be the "she" isn't a person but a place)
and we must help Clockstop the Whys return splinternails to QU13E
(because it seems that somehow sparkrent used us to release this evil
being.... not sure how but since its kinda our fault we should help return
the evil one)
(that's my take so far)
and i pray to the unforum gawds that we soon
will have our very own forum.. so that we can organize our next move--
