I don't think that this is of significance, although you never know...

Does anyone have an idea how the last set of clues might fit into the existing countdown? The next sequence number should be '20'.

What is the connection between this number and this two symbols?
It's not ASCII, that would result in '18'.

i wonder if the size on the frame is significant?

start - 800 x 600
11/09 - 600 x 450
11/10 - 500 x 375

I was thinking that too, Vandino. Coloradans must think alike.

Does anyone know when the gate graphic first appeared?

Woohoo! An ARG that's just starting up! I miss the paranoia and sleeplessness... anyway, enough with that. I found some things, and I thought I'd share.

I Googled "maroo seven sins" (without quotes) and the first hit was http://www.splinterworld.com/oboenai/splinternails/archives/lust/index.php, the title of which is "Archives of lust." On the webpage is what appears to be anything you guys've ever gotten in an e-mail, and then some. I couldn't find the meaning of oboenai, though. (Click here to go right to the Google cache)

Also, by taking the first letter of everything in

Quote:
However it may have happened, it seems that one is no longer among us. Everything that he stood for has vanished. Long was he been our leader. Long was he been our friend. Presumably, he has gone on to a better place. Although it seems that I may never know now. Needless to say, these will be difficult times for all of us. Some have already decided to leave us, and I am having a difficult time myself. No one has taken this harder than myself. Since the beginning, he was my friend, and I was grateful for it. Together, we overcame all the obstacles. So long has he felt like a brother to me. Regretfully, i feel that it is time for everyone to move on, and as such, i am going to disband the group. On the thirteenth it shall no longer exist. We shall be finished with it.

it spells out HELLPANSNSTSROW. I wouldn't have posted anything about it, but the HELL part seemed rather important. I'll play around with anagramming it a little, but I figured I'd post it first and see if anyone else wanted to do the same.

So, that's about it for now. I'm way excited for this thing to get going. And I agree with you, delusional: countdowns freaking suck.

EDIT: About the only interesting anagram I could find was Hell Spawn Snorts, and even with the talk of hellspawn on the "Archives of Lust", it still seems pretty sketchy.

I'm starting to see why they're called "ARGs"... it's not because it's short for "Alternate Reality Game". It's because that's the phrase you continually want to yell while playing them.

oboe means memory and if i remember right nai is a negative so no memory or forgotten might be a rough translation.

With a little more playing around, I found that there are archives from May through August of 2005 in the www.splinterworld.com/oboenai/splinternails/archives directory that can be accessed through the Google cache.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

May
June
July
August

I hope this isn't considered peeking behind the curtain...

maybe we should try and find the dates for the extracts that we find in our emails. because i've checked on almost all the messages we've gotten, and even the message written in the gate picture, and so far they've all been almost direct quotations from the splinternails or splinterworld site, although they usually have a few words changed, added, or missing.

oh, and labfly, i clicked back and forth between the images i have saved from the fourth and today at least fifty times, and they look identical to me.

does anyone else see half of a face on the left side of the gate?

edit: tried to send a message to saintless.splintersSPLATgmail.com, but i got an error message saying that it failed permanently. also sent another reply to rebirth.tenth.movieSPLATgmail.com

i'll wait until tomorrow, see what happens, then maybe retry the saintless addy again

Apart from the size the images are identical, I just checked.

You are right, with a bit of imagination you could make out some features of a face in the wall next to the gate. But if so, I think the eyes are kind of strange.

There were several images and texts there.

If there is anyone interested, I can post that here.

Here's your daily update.

The gate pic is now at 300px by 225px.
And the source says.

I wonder if this guy is just messing with us. :/
